Tagline Help

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We are a speciality plastering company and we're sending out postcards to the top 50 home sales in our area for each month. The card is a blownup version of our business card with phone number & website on it...very flashy.

So far we have 'Congratulations on your new home!'

We are looking for a finish to the card. Can you help>

Thank you

Sounds like good targeting. People who are new to a house have all of the things that they want to fix fresh in their minds.

Here's a question for you - after you have incurred all of the expense of printing the post cards and paying for the postage, why not make your message a bit stronger and more creative. Instead of locking yourself into your business card design, you should consider shifting your focus to what matters most to new home owners. I could guess at that, but you should talk to many and determine this from direct experience. I would save the business-card look for real business cards and/or the magnetic ones that people can keep on a frig for future reference.

For your closing message, I would focus on the fulfillment of their dreams. Every buyer has an idea in their mind of what their dream home looks like. You are in the business of making that dream come true.

How about: "Making Your Dreams Come True"

    Best of Luck, JohnnyB.

I will try to answer the questions posted...

We are advertising in a coffee table book quality directory that is sent to the top 50 homes that are sold within a several county radius of our area. The book is given to the new homeowners' as part of the welcome package. We are just following up the directory to keep our name in front of the potential client.

The postcard is standard size and already printed. We have addressed over 200 of them so far and would like to start sending them out...we are just looking for the perfect wording to get the phone ringing. The postcard (as well as the business card) features on the background our most spectacular finish...it is very striking...

This is our first foray into this type of marketing, we have advertised in magazines but have not found that to be effective. We have been featured in HGTV's Designer's Challenge (and to our surprise nothing really came of that either).

So far this is has not been that costly and we are targeting homes that are $600k to over 1 million.

Hope this helps you all help us.

    Thanks for the responses.

Given your experience, when are new homeowners likely to need your services? To customize the finish? To complete/upgrade the look? To remodel spaces to fit their needs? As others have noted, you need to connect what you do with what people need.

Perhaps instead of sending postcards, send a small plaster pot that connects the "welcome" to your services (not plants, but plaster).

All of the above. We are hooping that a new homeowner is going to want to make changes to make the home their own. We are offering them another choice other than paint. We can also take existing architectural itmes in their homes, such as fireplaces and completely change to look of that to better suit their taste.

All we are looking for right now, because the postcards are ready to go...is an eye catching slogan or phrae to make them want to see our website and call us.

New Homeowners want 2 things: a lovely place to live and improvement in the value of that huge new purchase.
Which one are you providing? A postcard, or even a business card must say what you can do for me, and what I must do to get it.
A call to action is absolutely essential; call today for a free estimate, call for information on how I can increase the value of your home, call me so that I can lower your construction cost..etc. But Call me...and do it today.
Otherwise, you have wasted your money and your time.

I hope you included a picture of some fine venetian plaster on the post cards.
