Company Name For Fitness Facility With Spa & More

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am opening a round-the-clock fitness facility; the main component is the gym (cardio, circuit training, powerlifting, basketball, squash, and racquetball), but we will also be including a spa, tanning center, MMA (mixed martial arts) academy, paintball, rock-climbing, aquatics, cafe, retail store (vitamins, supplements, clothing, nutritional bars, shoes, and other items that would come in handy for the consumer in the facility), and a family entertainment center for childcare.

I'm looking for name suggestions for this entity. It will be a Green building (not in color but in environmental soundness), and I am a Christian in a not-so-Christian area. I am open to incorporating those qualities into the name; actually, I would love to include the latter concept somehow, but it would have to be subtle. Ideally, something a little mysterious that would pique the consumer's curiosity.

Also, I'm really interested in names that are unique and would distinguish us from other fitness facilities.

Thanks for your time!

I think your opinion might hold true about the impact of opening a green business in most areas, but I live in NorCal and it is extremely important to people in this demographic.

I do completely agree in regards to the religion be separated and restricted to our personal lives, though it should be mentioned that people do open christian businesses all the time. That being said I do think we would pick up Christian individuals within the community, and it is a fact that non-Christians generally view Christian companies as more trustworthy and that the morals and principles that Christians companies follow in general are strong pluses. So taking that into consideration, I think a subtle hint of our faith, would not hurt our business in any notable way.

Thirdly, a name that an individual likes, in general, will be a name that catches the attention of others and is liked. I have to look no farther then the naming of my child and the response that people have to her name. I liked the name I chose for my daughter and it draws a lot of attention and compliments.

Lastly, just so its not confusing. I believe strongly in my views, and would love my beliefs worked into the name of my dream, yet I am perfectly fine with a name that does not. I am posting on here because I want a unique and well suited name for my company. Please refrain from telling me what I need and just post ideas for names.

People choose a gym not because it has a wonderful name, nor is it in a green building, nor based on who owns it. These may be secondary (or tertiary) concerns, but first thing's first: How does your gym compare to gyms in your area? What makes it better/different (in ways that your clientele would truly care about)?

While I'm sure we can come up with names that meet your criteria, I'm not sure how much these names will truly help your business goals.

Let's get into the real issue: What makes your business any better (or even any different) from competition? Why should someone choose your facility instead of the one down the street?

What do you know about your target audience? The more people you include in that target, the harder it will be to communicate a meaningful message to them all ... in your advertising or your name. So you really should narrow your focus and identify the people who are most likely to benefit from the unique benefit you provide.

Finally, what BENEFIT are you planning to deliver that will distinguish your business from others? You've given us a lot of features, but no unique and important benefit. It's hard to come up with a name when you don't have a distinctive benefit to offer.

We can help you with names, but we need to understand the situation first. How will you determine which suggestions are on-target for you and which aren't? How will you pick a winner? If you can tell us the selection criteria, we have a much better chance of delivering for you.

It's not about being Christian or not, or green or not, or more/less mysterious (or not). It's about delivering a unique and important benefit that will appeal to your primary target audience.

The target group is everyone. We have designed this facility to accommodate every age group from infants to the elderly. I know how much effect the name has, but I would like to have a name that fits what we are providing.

As far as the competition, there are five other clubs in the area, ours will be bigger, better equipped, better staffed, far more convenient(one stop for all your needs), and the prices will be half the monthly cost of the only real competition as far as the facility is concerned. We cut the prices low enough to draw the members from the other lower level clubs, and from the upper level clubs. Bottom line, they will choose our facility, because it is providing the most advanced club in the area for a better rate, enough said.

And just so its clear, I don't care if the green concept or my personal beliefs are worked into the name, I simply stated it would be a plus if they could be.

Gyms have become more of a must go place, and with your overall approach, and to the detail of a green building will definitely be a draw...as the self conscious gets into gyms, and most of them do care. Care for the environment and et al.

I agree with my fellow posters that its more about the biz than about the name. But of course name will add on to considering that your gym seems to do it all.

Ideally you will have to go very uber and chic in naming.

Thanks rjohnni, it was nice to actually get an answer to the question. I like the concept you are working with for the name, yet the fact you had to explain it to me, indicates there will likely be a large part of our prospective member base that doesn't "get it". But again thanks, and if you have any other ideas I am all ears.
