Need Help For An Online Boutique Name &/or Tagline

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We will be opening an online boutique based in New York City and Philippines. We will be selling clothing and accessories for men and women. The concept basically is like having a personal shopper here in NYC and ship it directly to them. We are thinking of naming it "I Shop NY" but we are still considering other catchy names. We still don't have any idea for the tagline. We really appreciate your help. Thanks a lot!

"I Shop NY" suggests that you'll have a lot of New York themed items, or that you're sourcing everything from New York. Both interpretations are misleading, if I understand your premise.

So what's the connection to the Philippines? Isn't that what makes you distinctive?

Maybe we need to start at the beginning and understand the benefit you're promising (and planning to deliver) to your target audience. Who is the primary target audience? How do you expect them to learn about you? What's the reason they'll fall in love with your business concept?

Once that's clear, we can work on the communication objective and thereby come up with a name and tagline that work for you.

For now, our target audience are from Philippines, both men and women. All of our products are from NYC, and some of it are NY-themed. We will post the available products we have in our website and if ever somebody wants something, let say a bag, then I will shop that bag here in NYC. What's different about our business is that they will have their personal shopper in NY, and we don't sell rip-offs. It's like NYC is just a click away.

I hope it's clearer now. Thank you so much.

Aha! So your target audience is in the Philippines, and you're shopping for them in New York.

In that case "I Shop NY" is probably a good name. What you might want to do is use a word or phrase of Tagalog to let your target audience know you "understand" them. Or, if you don't want that, you need some "code-word" that lets them know you know the Filipino mindset and share their values, etc.

Something like, "Your Filipina friend shops for you in New York." Or "It's better than being in New York." Or "Bringing New York to the Philippines."

You need to let them know that you're one of them and would shop for them just the way they would shop for themselves if they were in New York.

You might also want to add the word "Boutique" to "I Shop NY" to make it clear what's in the store.
