Tagline Needed For Versatile Business

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am in need of a tagline for a small company (we are currently only 2 people) I have just founded which has two primary lines of business:
1. Real Estate and Property Management
2. IT Consulting for large corporations as well as redesigning websites for small companies.

What I need is something that brings out the point that we are different - we really aim to make a difference and also take a different route to solve problems... i.e. while everyone follows the well trodden path we come up with creative solutions which are better, more efficient, longer lasting (especially in terms of IT consulting solutions).
The slogan should be formulated so that it can be used for different lines of business but always emphasizes that we are not just another company... we are better than the rest because we have the courage to go a different path...

Phil Grisolia is absolutely right. It makes no sense to come up with a generic tagline for multiple businesses with different target markets and that address different customer needs. This is a waste of our time and energy, and it won't solve any problems for you either.

What is the purpose of the tagline? What do you want it to do for you? Being "different" isn't a benefit for your customers unless you spell out the difference and why they should care.

It's also pretty difficult (impossible?) to come up with a good tagline if we don't even know the name of the business. I'm guessing the name is pretty generic too, so it may not matter.

You can always use: "Acme Enterprises: A different kind of company." It won't mean anything to anyone, but you'll have a name and a tagline.

I'd recommend you re-think the way you're approaching this. Let us help you ... not with a tagline, but with the fundamental positioning of your business(es).

I'm with Michael & Phil. Your prospective customers aren't interested in "we are better than the rest because we have the courage to go a different path". They're interested in what you can do for them that your competition can't.

Also, I wouldn't hire a web design company that's also a property management firm. Likewise, I wouldn't hire a property management firm that also does websites. The only exception: if you specialize in real estate/property management websites. Then the combination of your skills comes (slightly) into focus.

    Hello everyone,

thank you very much for your feedback to begin with.
The name of the company is Baracata GmbH.

I understand your concern with regards to trying to combine different lines of business under one roof. There are two reasons for this:
    1. Two people -> I do the IT part of it, my partner does the real estate part of it.
    2. We are currently operating out of Germany. Because creating a company for every line of business is expensive, time consuming and tedious we are working under one roof with two lines of businesses. This is merely out of a legal/tax aspect.

After considering your feedback and agreeing with you I hope you approve of the following solution:
    1. the company name - Baracata GmbH - is appended with the line of business... something like Baracata GmbH IT Consulting and Baracata GmbH Real Estate... or something along those lines
    2. two web sites -> baracata-itconsulting.com and baracata-realestate.com
    3. two slogans, one for each line of business.

    Does that sound more sensible?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Is it possible to name each company separately but make them both part of Baracata GmbH (as a parent company)? Because Baracata doesn't mean anything [to your target audience], there's no marketing reason to put it as the first word in the name they see.
