Starting A Private Counselling Practice For Teens

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Help! I am starting a private counselling practice working specifically with teenagers. I am looking for a great tagline that will be catchy and/or informative.

I want to appeal to both parents and teens in my approach. I want them to know that I am understanding, compassionate, and will challenge them to become who they were meant to be. I am also younger and think that my sense of humor and enthusiasm will set me apart from others.

What's your focus for teen counseling? Emotional support? College-entry support? Mentoring to become an adult? Tell us more who your ideal clients are and what problems they (and their parents') face that you hope to address.

Thank you so much for all your responses and feedback, it is greatly appreciated! To answer some questions:

    - I don't have a name for my counselling practice, just first name last name Counselling Services.
    - I am a recent graduate, however my background is working with women in addiction, who have experienced abuse and/or trauma, and those who have been sexually exploited.
    - My focus on counselling adolescents is working with teens who are experiencing self-esteem problems, sexual identity issues, suicidal or self-harming, aggressive and out of control behaviours.

    - my approach is Solution Focused, I also believe that the client is the expert and has the ability to control their outcome. I tend to also really challenge clients (in a respectful and encouraging way).

    - my ideal client would be a teen who is acting out, who is aggressive and whose parents don't know what to do next. I value this age group as it can be such a difficult time for many. Also, not many people want to work with teens because they can be difficult, while that's the exact reason I do want to.

I hope this helps... I am really looking forward to hearing what comes out of this as I have been feeling rather stuck.

    Thank you!!
