Name For Sports Site

In the process of trying to develop a name for a brand new online sports social media site. I need a name and maybe tagline if something comes to mind. Anyway, this could be the next biggest thing out there! We're going to provide all sorts of online sports chatting and it involves all sports.

    So who is your primary target audience? Is this for fans of professional sports, weekend warriors, college or high school team boosters, other?

    You should probably focus on a narrow target initially to prove out the concept. Once you have a winning formula, you can expand it to a broader audience.

    I can understand your enthusiasm for this idea, but don't let it distract you from creating a sound business plan -- including the marketing strategies and plans. Once you have that, we can definitely help you come up with a name and tagline.

    The better the idea the more it needs a good business plan. That's because it's too easy to just "do stuff" while you're focused on the exciting vision, only to find out later that you were doing the wrong stuff ... because you were so focused on that vision.

    Problem is with today's market is you need to get your idea "out there" before its taken or some inferior version comes along. Realizing hubs like facebook never started with a business plan the possibility is there for anything to take off out there if the idea is good enough and people find it interesting. This name will at the very least help to brand this idea. It is a very broad based sports hub that we're doing cover every sport. No sense in pigeon holding this concept to just a couple of areas of sport when we could be loosing a large demographic from areas we end up not covering. This is going to be one of the big draws here. It is for fans of all sorts of sports...Pro, College in fact if you wanted to create your very own "room" for your kids highschool team - go for it!

    I appreciate your insight here and feedback.

    Please let me know if anyone has any ideas here on a catchy name.

    thanks...Yes there are plenty of these chatting/forum type hubs out there but nothing like we are going to do. For obvious reasons we can indulge all here but the concept for name sakes will still be relevant.

    Not trying to be difficult, but your name would be more impactful if it communicated the benefit that makes you different from others.

    You may wish to consider a private, off-line consulting arrangement so you can get a signed NDA and focused attention to your marketing challenge.

    In your case, the name is an extremely important element in your marketing mix. This isn't the place to save money and compromise the plan's overall effectiveness.
