Tagline For Diabetes Startup

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello, I've started a website for diabetes information and need help creating a tagline. The name of the website is GlucoPro.com.

The main goal of the site is to provide advice, solutions, and answers to all questions related to diabetes control, whether it's diet, exercise, medication, etc. We want to position ourselves as experts in the field of diabetes.

I'm targeting diabetic/pre-diabetic adults aged 35-60. Here is a list of taglines I've come up with so far:

"Diabetes Know-How"
"Diabetes Made Easy"
"The Diabetic Solution"
"Diabetes Done Better"
"Taking Control of Diabetes"
"Active.Diabetes.Lifestyle"

Thanks so much for your help! And if you have any other ideas please feel free to add.

Have you already gotten to know your target audience in some depth? The question you ask is likely best answered by them, not us. What are the issues on their minds? How much information do they have already? Who do they trust for this kind of information? What words and phrases do they use to describe their needs?

It's actually a little more complicated than that. You've probably defined your market too broadly. There are segments of the market with certain identified needs (e.g., nutrition information), and there are others that have only recently become aware that they're pre-diabetic and don't even know what that means/entails. There are those with type 1 and those with type 2 diabetes. There are those who need daily insulin injections and those who can control their blood-sugar level with just oral medication.

You probably ought to start by focusing on a specific market segment and position yourself to capture 100% of that narrow segment ... rather than 0.00001% of the market you have defined. Once you've succeeded you can always expand at a pace that's comfortable for you.

You also don't mention what YOUR objective is. How will you measure your success? Is this a profit-making venture, or are you trying to provide a service? What's the exit strategy? Etc.

And don't minimize the importance of Phil's point. You need to be sure you don't expose yourself to outrageous liability.

We can definitely help you with tagline suggestions and opinions, but to really do it right and give you the most helpful advice, we'd need access to the research you've done (or need to do) among your primary target audience.

Do diabetics even have a need for the service you propose to provide? Do they define themselves at some level by the fact that they have the disease? Would they like to have an online meeting place/information source, or would they prefer to keep their status between them and their doctors/families?

We'd need to understand your business concept from THEIR perspective to really make an important contribution to your planned marketing effort.

"pre-diabetic adults"? what does this mean? who would this target audience be (specifically) or are you considering everyone to be pre-diabetic and this is preventive information?

There can be 2 segments with respect to diabetes:
    1) those who have been diagnosed and need to carefully maintain their health with medical care including preventing serious complications and 2) prevention of diabetes through attention to weight contract as one example (which is a very serious problem today).
