Naming My Jewelry Business

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I'm starting my jewelry business. I work with different materials- beads, wire, buttons, etc. My name is Marija, but I'm not very into using my name for business name. Fo some time I'm using "DEESSE Creative", it looks nice with the right font, but it sounds funny and hard to pronounce.
Also I don't know if I should use "jewelry" in the name because I have interests in other crafts as well.
I was thinking of "Simply M", "Simply me", "Made by Mae", "Mae bling" (Mae is my nickname), "bling design".
So far I like "Mae bling".

I would appreciate comments on my ideas, and gladly will accept new name suggestions.
Help!:-)
Thanks

You'll have to excuse Phil. He's using a British/English dictionary, and we don't know what country you're in. In the United States, the preferred spelling is "jewelry."

You might also want to let us know who your primary target audience is. Where do they live? Where do they buy jewelry like yours now? Where do they typically learn about new sources? How are you planning to create awareness of your business? (How will they learn about you?)

You've come to the right place for help with the name, but we need to understand a little more about your target audience and marketing plan if we're to give you really good direction with the name.

Thanks to both of you. I have been thinking about those questions, but never thoroughly. :-)
The target group are, of course, women. And we know women love to adorn themselves since they're born. :-) So I don't think I could narrow the group by age.
However, my plan for the near future is to narrow it by their income. Since I'm starting the business now with limited budget, I'm using not so expensive materials, which will result with not so high prices. However in near future, hopefully if the business runs good, I plan to start using more expensive materials (as semi precious stones, pearls, silver etc.) with which I would target women with higher incomes.
(I'm still learning the techniques, therefore I'm not using expensive supplies).
I imagine that "my customers" are buying jewelry in fashion accessories stores and well known fashion brands which have accessory lines.
Building the awareness? Oh my! Well, I feel my mind scattered when it comes to that :-).
Again, for the beginning it would be selling online (creating my own website- which will need search engine optimization), social media- Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc., I guess trade shows and home show parties, word of mouth. There is website for craft selling online "Etsy", but I'm not big fan of that- TOO much craftsmen! Blogging- I'm horrible in writing and I never know what to write!
And for sure listing the business on Internet business listings.
I live in Canada, I moved here 10 months ago from Macedonia (for sure you'll notice mistakes in the grammar at least :-)
I don't know what else to add. Feel free to ask me, I really have great expectations for myself and I do accept advices from professionals.
    Thanks again.

What if I use the family name: THIMIO?
Nothing more than that. Simple, short, easy to be read. I don't need a logo, just nice font. All the big designers and companies are using their names.
    What do you think?
