Naming A Mural Painting Business

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am looking for help in naming my new mural and decorative painting business. I am finding it very difficult to think of a name that I like and that does not sound "cute" or trendy.

I primarily paint interior murals, I also do decorative painting and faux finishes, but I want to focus my efforts on mural painting. My work includes: Fresco, Trompe O'leil, Children's themes, etc.

Is it wise to incorporate the word "Mural(s)" into my business name? Or should I take a different approach?

Your business name suggestions or advice would be greatly appriciated. I live in the northwest region of Washington state and I am a guy...these facts might help.

Thank you,
Jim Lidback

Naming your business using the word mural is one of your most powerful marketing tools. Why? First because your prospective customer knows from the start what you do. (What does NCR do? Or Applied Technologies? Or Thomas Services? Compare that with Paychex, or Boston Business Journal. Building a brand around a meaningless name takes endless investment.
Which is the better coffee: Maxim? Or Tasters Choice?)
If that's not enough, consider the most effective way to attract customers today: the internet. Using what you do in your company name will attract far more potential customers who are searching for your service. The word "mural" gets over 4.2 million searches/month. Faux Paint gets only about 4000. "Indoor Murals" not only loses you potential customers (those who want Outdoor Murals) but only gets about 1000 google searches each month.
Use Mural in the name of your business.

How about using your name? There are only two groups that come to mind with their own names as their business name: small startups (think landscapers, plumbers, etc) that tend to stay small, and those who are already world famous: think Andy Warhol.
80% of all startups go out of business in the first 5 years.
You need all the marketing help you can get.

A quick search on Google came up some of the kind of names I'd consider:
    Mural Impressions
    Mural Masterpieces
    Murals for Kids
    Murallusions
None of these are great, but you get the idea

I also practice what I preach, and named my company exactly what it does.
