Help In Choosing A Tagline

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
So I have decided to take the plunge and enter into entrepreneur status. I am an educational professional with extensive background and knowledge of the field I am venturing in. I have chosen the name of the business and purchased the domain. The business name is NogginLoggin.

It will be a storefront location as well as a web presence for support. The purpose of the business will be to offer fun, technology classes to families. Basically keep Gen Y (kids) in their interests, advance them, and help to keep up the Gen L (learners/parents) as well as providing them with some different types of classes.

I have come up, with the help of others, a few taglines and am interested to here your expert take and choice. If you have others feel free to suggest. Thank you in advance.

NogginLoggin
Here are the taglines
1. Opening Minds
2. Your Link to Learning
3. Turn Learning on its Head
4. Sign-in to learning
5. Empowering generations
6. Updating your digital knowledge - Elvin
7. Activate your techknowledge
8. Sign-in to your potential

What does "technology classes" mean? Learn to use equipment? Learn specific software programs? Learn to program computers? Create your own website? Build your own computer?

Are you mostly trying to appeal to Gen Y or Gen L people? While I realize you'll be teaching similar material, how you talk to these audiences differ.

    Hi Jay,
The courses will be project-based..meaning by the end of a class they will have created, built or programmed something that they can use. Most of the programs I have researched currently are geared towards kids (Programming, Robotics, Graphic Design) but adults also want to learn these (from hearing this for years) to keep up with their children or for their own interests. Courses for adults will differ of course but I am also hoping to integrate some of the courses in the sense of parents taking the course with their children. I have been doing this long enough that I realize teaching to children is different then adult learners. I hope this answered your inquiry.

In that case, a couple of suggestions:
    * Programmed For Success
    * Fun Projects To Become Computer-Savvy

Jay is pointing in the right direction. Don't sell "learning" or "knowledge." That doesn't sound like much fun, and it doesn't point to a clear benefit. ("So what if I have more knowledge. What will it DO for me?")

Better to sell success and fun.

And technology is a two-edged sword. Those who love technology will be drawn to it, but those people are not likely to be in your primary target audience. Those who find technology threatening won't be so positively disposed.

Aside: There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

Thank you all for your input. It is quite valuable. I am thinking of going with Turn Learning on Its Head. It's a bit edgy and I am hoping that the logo designers can take this and convey the fun and creative side of the business. Depending on what they come up with for designs I may go in another direction but the suggestions were great. Thank you. I will keep this open until next week to see if there are any other ideas. Thank you all and have a great weekend!
