Know-How Exchange : Taglines/Names

"Simply Breathless" doesn't say anything that might be considered travel-related or positive. When I think of "breathless" I think of high-altitude and gasping for air for the first 3 days! ("Are you going to send me to the Andes?")

I think the name has to have "travel" in it, or you risk not communicating what you're all about.

What about something like "Celebration Travel" or "The Travel Event of a Lifetime?"

When you say you don't want to be too specific, it scares me a little ... because the more specific the name is, the better job it will do of creating a brand image in people's minds. A vague or "generic" name is useless.

You might also give us some sense of who your primary target audience will be. Again, be as specific as you can be. What do these folks want? Where do they live? How do they make purchase decisions for this kind of travel? Is it an individual decision, or is it made by a committee? Who is the ultimate buyer?

How will they learn about you? What makes you different from and better than other travel companies? Why should they choose you? What important and unique benefit do you provide?

Thank you all for your honestly and advice so far. I think I should clarify that this company is going to be like a travel club. Starting off with friends and family in hopes that others may eventually like to join after hearing about a trip or two. My mentors have been advising me from the start not to put the word travel into the name so that it doesn't get confused with travel agencies or other travel companies. That is why I had been thinking that way. They both work in the travel industry so it's very interesting to me to hear all of your opinions in comparison. I was also advised to make a different club name. I was planning to use the word travel in it.

I will be designing the entire trip on every trip taken. Kind of like a tour guide but I will be working with actual guides at deep discount prices who will be the ones giving the actual tours.. I simply just go along and ensure that everyone is having a good time. I have an excellent job and plan to do this 2 or 3 times a year. The event part would only be if someone asked me to plan something for them in a different location. (In that case I would form another trip so that they wouldn't have to worry about the details)

I wanted to briefly explain my thoughts behind Simply Breathless. mgoodman - I understand where you are coming from and I thought of of the same thing myself. I wondered if anyone would hear that and think out of breath rather than being left breathless by something beautiful. To be honest..you are the first person who has reacted negatively to it but I'm glad you honestly told me what you thought.

When I do events sometimes there are thousands of people there in a venue that I've transformed to many times look/feel like some where completely different. When every last detail has been taken care of and I get a moment to step back and look around me I'm normally amazed because even though I had a vision in my head, its an entirely different thing to see it come together with the people there. I love watching people's expressions when they walk into an event. Majority of them don't speak for about 30secs because they are in awe looking at their surroundings and when they do, they say something it's like "oh my gosh look at this place" and then often times continue to not speak and look around again. Well thats the way I feel when I travel to a new place. Have you ever felt like everything around you is so beautiful or so unique that it takes your breath away? I remember my first trip to Jamaica..almost the entire time I was there my eyes were darting from one thing to the next. My boyfriend and I spent lots of money to experience the country as much as possible in 9 days.(Not that I plan for the trips to be crazy expensive) It was completely worth it when we came home and friends and family asked about our trip and our response was that "words couldn't begin the explain". I'm not saying thats the name for me. I just wanted you to see where that came from.

As far choosing a name that I love.. My main interest is what others will get out of it. I didn't mean for that to sound the way it may have come across. I just mean that I want it to sound appealing enough to me to proud that I'm putting work into it, which I'm very excited to be doing.
