Should I Change My Shop Name After 4 Years

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
Should I change my shop name after 4 years? I also have a website with this name and am just going to start selling online - have had the site but just used it for customer info and advertising the shop - so thought this would be a good time to change the name. I want to make the name more unique and have the idea of a name, I feel the name I used when i first opened is a bit 'typical' of a new age shop and could also alienate people who might think my shop is too way out, whreby I sell alot of jewellery for giftware too so you dont have to be in to new age. Would i lose any custom - I am still building up the shop business it has been hard through the recession these last 4 years. However, now I am expanding to an online web shop, I feel a need for a new slant on things. What so people think?

Thanks Phil. I really see your point. And will certainly give serious thought to it. I thought the same thing myself about investing 4 years. It really helps to have someone elses opinion instead of it just going around and around in my head. :)) Many thanks for your advice.

Thank you David. To be honest I didnt really want to put on my site name for public domain, but my problem was that many similiar names represent witchy sites and though I sell some products in this vain, it is more practical than the over the top sites that are not particularly selling products but spells. But I think you have made some valid points, particularly that it seems I am already selling to a wider customer base, so maybe i am seeing probelms where there are none!

Perhaps it's time to open a second website to differentiate your product lines?

Thanks, jay. That is something I hadn't thought of but is certainly an idea worth considering.
