Name & Tagline For New Pet Sitting Business

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am needing help coming up with a name and tagline for my new pet sitting business. Pet sitting is where you go into your clients home and take care of their pets instead of them coming to you. I will also be doing house sitting, pet waste removal (pooper scooping peoples backyards), pet taxi, dog walking, etc. I also will board dogs at my house from time to time. My business is located in the Hendersonville, NC area which is South of Asheville, NC. The median age range is 45 years and has a higher female population. In my name and tagline I am wanting to express my service, so I would like 'pet sitting' to be at the end of the name. I am wanting something simple but remember able. I do not want a commonplace name like 'pampered pets' or 'the pet nanny'. I also plan on federally trademarking my name so that no one else can ever use it. I want something original. I do not want to use my area/location or my name in the business name. I also want something that will grab peoples attention (in a good way). I am also a Christian and would like to incorporate Him in either the name or the tagline or both. I wouldn't mind a whimsical name. I want my name and tagline to state what I am and what my business is. I am wanting it to describe me and my business as caring, dependable, safe, secure, loving, fun, active, religious, responsible, polite, etc. Also, I am only 23 years old but I am a very old fashioned person. And considering that the majority of the people that live up there are either generation X or baby boomers I should fit in well. I also want people to know and get it when they first see it. I don't want my name or tagline to be a cryptic code. I have been brainstorming for three days now and have come up with some pretty good ones but just nothing that has struck me yet. I am the type of person that I know what I like when I see/hear it. But any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Maybe I worded what I was trying to say the wrong way. I want people to know that they can trust me. Because a pet sitter goes into their homes and cares for their pets, which most people consider to be their children or at least part of the family. Most people will not allow some one to enter their home or take care of something that is precious to them unless they trust you. I want the name of my business to have real meaning. Preferably that I am a person to be trusted and I will protect and care for their pets and house while they are away. I want my business name to show that I care about their pets the same way that they do. So far the name I like the most that I have come up with is 'Cherished Fur Pals Pet Sitting' and my tagline is either 'The Next Best Thing to You' or 'As They Are My Own'. I don't want my business name and tagline to come off as childish but professional, caring, and protective. I hope this helps if my original posting was a little confusing or wordy.

Yes I have always been a pet owner. As far as professional I used to manage a doggy daycare and I worked as a vet assistant at a vet clinic. I have also done pet sitting and house sitting for several people before. I know what Phil was saying and I agree with him as well but he comes off as a very cold person and I am a personable person and I believe that a name can make or break your business as I am sure all pros know. I just don't want a standard name I want something that stands out among the others.

I have been thinking about some things that I could do to separate me from my competition. Like I could take photos of their pet while they are away and I could have it hanging on the fridge when they get back. Also, I could do a little extra like clean their house since I am watching it anyway. Also I love baking and I am pretty sure that I will bake treats and leave them some to give to their pet when they return. I am a person who caters to other people. I guess you could say I am a 'satisfaction guaranteed' type of person.

I do appreciated Phil's advice because he was honest and it did make me think. And you are right that my service will speak for itself. What do you think of "Cherished Fur Pals Pet Sitting" or "Ally Pet Sitting". I would like some feed back on some of the ones I have come up with so far. Believe I have two pages of nothing but names for my business.

    Thanks to All,
    Shavone

I'm not a marketing professional, but as a potential customer, I stumbled when trying to say the name, "Cherished Fur Pals Pet Sitting" each time I read it. It seemed to be a bit of a tongue twister, and was difficult for me to remember. Although Ally's Pet Sitting is a little less romantic, it is easier to say and remember.
I immediately liked the tagline, "The Next Best Thing To You". Good luck (or God Bless). I hope you find a name and tagline that suites you. I think it's fantastic that you're only 23 years old and an aspiring entrepreneur.

Sorry for the errors. I meant to type "Ally Pet Sitting" instead of Ally's. I thought it was the name of a person. I also meant to say "suits you" and not suites you.
It sounds like you want to provide a Christian pet sitting service. I do like Karen's suggestion about being opened minded, but I'm sure you have your reasons for selecting your niche.
