Wedding Planning Business Name

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hello,

I recently opened my own wedding planning company but am considering changing the name. Right now it is called Elite Wedding and Event Planning. All of my experience is with wedding planning and not events, but I am not opposed to planning other events.

I live in a college town and want to market to younger couples getting married but also to their parents, who are usually paying the tab. I want to portray a trendy, modern company with a more fun name. I think my name is a bit too corporate, also it's really hard and long to say on the phone!

My business is new, only about 8 months, so I am not too worried about changing it and people not being able to find my new company.

I would love some feedback if on some names and if changing my name is a good idea or not.

Right now the names I like are:

Couture Weddings
Pink Diamond Events

2 thoughts about your existing name "Elite Wedding and Event Planning":

    1) Since people who hire you do plan weddings & (corporate) events are different, you'll have a hard time showing that you can do both well. If you really want to do both types of events, create a second company targeting the corporate events market, name it appropriately, and have marketing materials reflect that specialization.

    2) Elite Wedding sounds like you only do high-end weddings that cost a lot. Is this the target market you're going for? For example, why not try: "Millennial Weddings" or "My Wedding, My Way". The names you like may be good or bad for your market/location - have you asked people what they thing of when they hear these names? Do they connect with them and immediately understand who you're targeting?
