Trademarks On Changing Logos

We are looking at updating our logo but don't know all the legal implications regarding the trademarks. We have two questions:
1. Will we have to go through the complete trademark process for a logo update? We have held the trademark since 2000.
2. Our current logo uses a "1st" and the logo we want to move to spells it out as "first". Will we have to go through the complete trademark process to make this change?

    There is a ton of information there, however there is no clear answer. I now know all about how to change the registrants' address and change the designated attorney for a trademark, but not what I would need to do to change the logo.
