Renaming Of Non-profit Child Care Center

Posted by feathercabin on 125 Points
We are currently named Community Family Development, Inc., but are seriously considering a re-branding of sorts including a new name, and logo. We serve low income families in a city setting. Something upbeat and unique would be great. Ideas for a new logo would be greatly appreciated as well.

We are a non-profit child care center with approx. 180 slots available for children ages 6 weeks - 12 years. We provide before- and after- school care as well as preschool, Universal Pre-K and kindergarten for low income (social services subsidized) families.

We have recently taken a huge hit with DSS cut backs and are looking for a fresh way to market ourselves to the entire community and not only low income families.

Our slogan is "Laying the Groundwork for Tomorrow's Communities".

    Hope this additional information helps.

Who are you trying to appeal with your new name/tagline/logo: prospective clients or donors?
Does your name need to indicate "low income families"?
    Where are you physically located?
    Who is your competition?
What do your past clients say about your services (using their words to help frame your name is a great technique)?

Currently, we are marketed only to clients qualifying for subsidies through the local Department of Social Services; however, we are looking to change that and market ourselves to a much broader audience while still working with low income families.

We are heading in a direction that will set limits for the number of spaces available to varying demographic groups. For example, of the 180 spaces available, 50% are reserved for full pay families, 30% to low income families (sliding scale) and 20% for DSS families.

Currently, there's no marketing scheme, it's simply all referrals through the Department of Social Services. With a recent (large) reduction in subsidies, it is necessary to take our marketing in a direction that will appeal to a greater demographic.

The name simply needs to appeal to the community as a whole, yet convey that we are a childcare/daycare facility.

We are currently located in an inner-city area where DSS parents can walk from low-income housing; however, we are looking for a better location that will appeal to other clients.
