Need A Name For A Sporstwear Retail Store

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi there, thanks to all who answered my original question. Here is the clarification. I am starting my own business and need help finding a sporty name that represents it. A name that spells sport, yet still original and away from a santard basic, ´sport shoes´ or ´sport town´name. It is a retail store that sells shoes and sportswear for different sports like runing, basketball, soccer, baseball, etc...as well as some sporting accessories and rackets. Different brand names will be carried. The location is excellent, and clients will be targeted based on it. My store will be the only place where clients can buy these brand names within a 30km radius zone. Please and thanks !

Nothing has changed since you asked your original question.

Start the process by defining your target audience more precisely. Who are the folks who will be your best customers? Where do they live? Where are they buying this stuff now? What's important to them in deciding on a retailer? Do they mostly price shop? Or are they looking for the best service? Or is there something else?

What's going to make your business different from, and better than, competition? WHY should your target audience buy from you?

If you're really serious about this business venture you need to have a clear business plan and a marketing plan that can deliver your objectives. The name is just one small element of that marketing plan.

If necessary, it's worth hiring a consultant who knows how to do this ... including, perhaps, some market research expertise to find out what it would take to get into your target audience's consideration set.

The thing you don't want to do is make a major investment in a new business without that kind of solid underpinning. It's a sure way to lose a lot of money before you even know if there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Asking essentially the same question twice doesn't change the answer. You've provided more detail about YOU and YOUR business, but there's no new information about the people who really matter -- your prospective customer base. Help us understand THEM (and your essential positioning benefit) better, and we'll be able to help you come up with a winning name.
