Need Names For 2 Homeschool Blogs

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am looking to start 2 new blogs. One is geared towards families that are new to homeschooling or considering homeschooling but not yet started. The other blog will target African-American homeschooling families. I'm looking for creativity since these are blogs, and I would really like to tie them back to business names. Down the road, I want to start offering products (particularly curriculum products) that are specific to the target group of each blog. So far I've come up with A Better Way (for either) and Homeschool Apprentice (for the newbies). I was hoping to see if someone had some better ideas or additional ideas.

    Hello Tanyaa,

For the both the General and African American blog, look to the reasons and inspirations that these families are basing their decision to home school. Is it for better or more directed education, to separate them from the public school system (is yes, why? Poor opinion of education levels, negative social elements), control of curriculum (for fundamental or academic outcome related reasons), religious motives, etc.

Doing so will help you to further define your target markets and allow you to align your brand and marketing strategies to them.

I am the product of a combination of home and public education, and would be happy to discuss this further outside the forum. You can click on my profile name above, which will provide you with several methods of contact. I am happy to help you to provide further detail to your question here, so that myself, and all the experts here can assist you.

    Kind regards,

    Ryan

Like Ryan, I've got a wealth of experience with homeschoolers. He's asked you some key questions that you need to consider.

How will your blog will differ from the multitude of other homeschooler blogs? What's your plan for spreading the word about your blog? You might also be interested in looking at this well-trafficked website that can allow you to add your own homeschool blog to their site (which has pluses and minuses): https://a2zhomeschool.com/

(Aside: There are a number of blogs for African American homeschoolers: homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/religion/afrocentric.htm, www.successful-homeschooling.com/african-american-home-school.html, https://whyhomeschool.blogspot.com/2006/06/interview-jennifer-james-directo..., https://homeschooling.about.com/od/africanamerican/AfricanAmerican_Homescho..., etc.)

As for a name, why not simply: "Homeschooling For African Americans"? The more obvious on your positioning, the easier it'll be for people that find you to understand quickly your specialty. Perhaps, simpler "Homeschooling AA" (less obvious a name).

For newbies, how about "On The Fence Homeschooler"?
