You need a name whether you love lily flowers, stargazers, etc. or not. And the name should be one that will communicate what you do and what the benefit will be for your primary target audience if they become customers.

So let's start with a clear definition of your target audience. Who are they? Where do they live? How do they pick a wedding/event company? What are the important considerations in their minds?

If you don't have solid answers to those questions, then you need to talk to a few folks who have hired these services recently. Ask them about the decision-making process. How did they approach it? How satisfied were they with the results? What would have made the experience better? Etc.

Talk to at least a dozen people. Don't try to sell them anything or convince them they should consider you next time. Just ask your high-gain questions, listen very carefully to their responses, take great notes, and be especially careful to record their exact words when they describe benefits, feelings, and concerns.

Then, after you have at least 12-15 of these interviews under your belt, step back from the process and review your notes. You will have a great basis for developing a positioning statement for your business, and we can use that to come up with a great name.

That's the way the naming process works. We'd be happy to help you, but you need to give us the input first. If this is more than you feel you can do yourself, you can always hire a professional market researcher to do it for you, but then THEY will be the experts instead of you. Not the ideal situation, but better than "flying blind" -- even if you do love lily flowers.

Keep in mind that names focusing on flowers would lean more toward the wedding side than the event side.

People understand that wedding/event planners don't have large number of staff so it's ok to use your name....or some variant that is memorable and add "events" to it.

I live in Las Vegas so my target clients are everywhere. I do not want to go with a Vegas theme, but rather an elegant theme. I want to go with more of an Event Planning, Coordination, or Production company with listings of all events that I will coordinate, Weddings being one of them. I want something unique versus ordinary, like elegant events. I am a unique person.

Congratulations on your uniqueness. The interesting thing is that we are ALL unique, so your uniqueness isn't really that unique (if you see what I mean).

Further, I don't understand how living in Las Vegas qualifies you to serve clients everywhere. Do you travel to China? Brazil? Or do you expect clients from all those places to travel to you? Or do you work remotely and handle everything by phone, fax and telecommunication?

I am really confused. The more general you position yourself, the less relevant you will be to everyone. You would be much better served picking a specific target audience and capturing a 100% share of that narrow market. You'll make yourself crazy trying to be all things to all people.

Is the business a website? Or is it an event planning service? What's the business model? How will you earn money? Do you have a business plan?
