Changing Restaurant Name To ???? Help

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
We are now called Surf City Deli and Bakery. We make donuts and other bakery items, BUT our main money is in the food we sell. Great deli sandwiches, burger, fries and a great countrystyle breakfast. The problem is folks associate us with just a deli. We need to change the name to a Cafe, but we don't know where to start. It is a family business with the last name of Sullivan and some of us answer to "Sully". We are near several schools and hang banners and sports shirts to support them. We like Sully's but not sure to just add Cafe, Grille or what. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Phil has a good point, however if you are set on changing the name maybe you could do a combo and call it "Sully's Surf City Cafe" and then gradually refer to yourselves as "Sully's" - give away t-shirts to some of the college kids - cool t-shirts that kids will wear of course - that could help brand the new name! Maybe become home of some yummy, monster sandwich that the college kids will fall in love with. I see the "diners, drive in's and dives" on Food Network and it's amazing to me how 1 monster sandwich can put someone on the map! Best of luck!

I agree with Phil. When you are already well-known in your place and customers frequent your place, there is no need to change name. People already associate you with your food and service, a name change would confuse your customers.
