Start by defining your target audience. Where are they? What are their main problems and needs? How do they go about finding solutions?

Why should they hire you instead of any one of a dozen others in this space in your area? What's different about you? What makes you a better choice? What unique benefit do you offer?

Once we understand more about your target audience and your intended positioning promise, we'll be able to help you with a name that will really add value and be more than a plain-vanilla identifier (like "ABC Company").

Thanks, David. But those are all features, not benefits. They are about what YOU do, not about what the CLIENT needs. To come up with a good name, we need to understand the BENEFIT to the client, in the words they would use.

Have you interviewed some representative client people to see what's on their minds? That might be a good idea. Don't try to sell them anything. Just ask a few high-gain questions and let them tell you what they need, what their problems are, what's on their wish list.

If you do this with 8-10 potential customers, listen carefully to what they say, take detailed notes, and then analyze your notes, you'll have a really great resource that we can use to help you name your company and develop a winning marketing plan.
