Please Help! My Head Hurts! Tagline Needed. =)

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I've recently renamed my home decor / gift shop "Moose Hill". We specialize in gifts from our state (Idaho) as well as home furnishings, dry goods (coffee, kitchen essentials, etc) and a hodge podge of home decor items.

I don't have a clue as to what to use for a tag line. I'd like it to be more creative and more "feel good" than just "Home Decor and Gifts".

My store is set up very welcoming and has a great deal of ambiance. We serve coffee with candles burning and relaxing music in the background. How can I bring that into my tag line?

This is all I can come up with:

"Idaho Inspired Gifts, Home Decor & Gifts"
"Everything You Need to Feel at Home"

My signs need to be in place asap and I'm dumbfounded. And help is GREATLY appreciated.

Who's your target audience? Locals? Tourists?
What makes your store a "destination" (i.e., what's unique about it)?
Are you selling high-end/specialty goods or "average-priced" wares?

The tagline needs to convey WHO should care about WHAT you're selling (and WHY). So, please tell us about your ideal/typical customer...

Thank you both for your responses.

Jay and Phil, you both addressed totally different concerns, so I'll try to sum it up. Forgive me, this is lengthy.

Our target audience is both local and tourists. We offer Idaho souvenirs so we'd like to attract those who are traveling as well as locals who would like to send an Idaho gift to out of state residents. (But that is not all that our shop carries and I am really leery of putting the whole focus on our Idaho products as to leave our home furnishings out of the mix.)

Our shop is unique in a couple of ways: We offer products created by local artists/crafters that are handmade and one of a kind originals. In other words you can't find this stuff at Target. I shop all over the country for unique handmade products that our locals or tourists can't find anywhere else. Not everything is handmade locally, so, again, I don't want to give the impression everything is.

In addition, I believe we offer a shopping "experience". To address one of Phil's questions, the reason I chose "Moose Hill" is because of our decor. It's very rustic, woodsy, and welcoming. We have arranged our store in a "homey" format where the customer can pull up a chair and have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and just soak in the atmosphere, or stroll through our pathway of evergreen trees and honeysuckle branches in search of a unique gift. Everything is for sale in our store, the trees, the tables, even the coffee mug they just had coffee in.

We are not just another "craft" store or mall and I really want to convey that message.

Again, hence the name change. This store has been in the same location under the same name for 21 years. And for the past three years it has literally dried up and died. It was previously a "Crafter's Gallery" and it's time has come and gone. My idea was to bring in a new shopping experience and offer new products to attract and gain new focus on the business - all while not trying not to alienate the current customer base.

It took me months to come up with Moose Hill - it does not say anything about our products, but I do think it conveys the image I'm trying to achieve. And believe me, is someone has a better idea, I'm all ears!! =)

If the above explanation has helped anyone come up with a better idea for a tag line or even a business name for that matter, I would deeply appreciate your thoughts. I really just want to get this right. Maybe I'm just making it too complicated?

Sorry for the long post. And again, my sincere thanks.
