Handling Multiple Google Place Accounts

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Has anyone seen an increase to suspensions in your google places accounts?especially when handling multiple clients under one account?

We have been managing for over 5yrs multiple accounts. We have 17 various accounts with up to 100 per each. They are all in compliance to google guidelines. One of the accounts with 40 individual clients was suspending.

We have had an occasional individual account get suspended due improper NAP (name, address, phone) from receiving a bad data
dump.

I don't recall if its in their TOS but they have been pushing more towards having organizations "own" their account, separate of agency accounts.

It creates a lot more work but for the last few years I've been keeping accounts separate even when the facility exists to manage many accounts (Adwords MCC for example).

I think the Google Places system is more than a little flakey.

I have one client whose brand name is always represented in capitals. Google Places guidelines says you must use normal capitalization and not use all capitals unless that is how your business or brand is represented in the real world. Then they simply will not accept a Submit with the name in capitals - gets rejected all the time flagged as Excessive Capitalization.

I have another client whose submission is being rejected daily "because it does not meet the quality guidelines". I have no idea why and have been through the listing umpteen times. It is filled in fully, factually and without embellishment. Try and find a way to contact someone at Google to get some help.

Google's rule on account ownership says: Ownership: Only business owners or authorized representatives may verify their business listings on Google. Well, I know I am and I expect you are an authorised representative. So why give us a hard time, Google? You would think they would love content aggregators like us, wouldn't you?

I thought these guys had a slogan "Do no evil". About time they lived up to the slogan, I think!

If you have more than one account in Google, you've undoubtedly encountered the hassle of juggling them in your browser. You have to sign out of one in order to sign into another, and on and on. Major pain.

But I do not have too many accounts. Some points I have seen in google for managing the accounts. See it will help or not?

Just sign into your Google Account, access the Account Management page, and then look for Multiple sign-in under Personal Settings. Click Change, then follow the prompts.

Currently, multiple sign-in works with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sites, Google Reader, Google Voice, App Engine and Google Code. When it's enabled, you'll see a drop-down next to your e-mail address at the top of the page. Two clicks and presto: you're switched to a different account.

Zenergy : Google is cleaning up Google Places as it is introducing Google Boost which will serve up Ads for localized search. If you have noticed lately the pack 7s are slowly disappearing and being replaced with listings with snippets of information (reviews, stars, images) (I'm assuming this is just for google.com initially) . The organic listings are factored in this equation too as to some extent the amount of citations.

I don't think it is prudent to have a lot of places accounts on one google account too. The N.A.P. really is crucial to be uniform on all your citations too.

NAP is acronym for Name Address Phone.

While I appreciate the responses, I am still looking for someone who has resolved this issue personally, not just those of you who have read about the problem.

NAP is not appriopriate for the question. We only practice best guidelines. We have had the accounts for years.
