Topic: Taglines/Names

Does This Name Resonate With You??

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I'm opening a pick up and delivery food service. The POS will be (hopefully) primarily on line. I've come up with a name and would like to know if it resonates with anyone? whatgrubs.me (URL registered)

Thanks

It doesn't work for me, because it sounds more like a lawn fixing service than a food service. But I may not be your target audience - who are they? Where are they located? Why would they buy (from you) online? Age? The more details, the more likely we can help you.

    Thanks for the response!
My target market is mixed commercial/ office (individuals during lunch break, ~75% ) and the companies themselves (catering~25%). Specifically, mid- sized companies tech, aerospace, finance, green. The age range will be from 25-50 (professionals) with disposable income.
The menu will be an expanded deli style (wraps, sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups, desserts and beverages). The model is geared to the lunch time segment.
Also, we are creating a very user friendly and intuitive web site for our main POS. We believe this will give the user a better/faster/errorless experience. Plus, other competitors use online as secondary POS as their clientele is conditioned to do so. But again we feel the timing is right to make this a primary hub. More and more people are inclined to purchase this way especially those on a time budget-our clientele!
Here are two other names we have been toying with: Louie’s On Lunch (we have created a fictional character Louie who will be a major player in our marketing scheme), lunchmiester.com

Your "other" names are a lot better than the grubby name, IMHO.

But we are not your target audience ... unless you can deliver lunch all over the world. Our opinions are not worth nearly as much as those of your target audience.

    Where are you? What country/continent?

Sorry for the confusion I didn't think the exact location would be relevant. I'm still solidifying an exact location but it will be in Colorado, USA- targeted specifically to an audience within ~3mi radius of my base of ops.
I absolutely agree with you..I'd much rather have targeted responses from my clientele. Would you have some suggestions? I just don't have the resources to procure private market research.

it is unique, but doesn't resonate. I think your intention was to be catchy and remember able. Though at first pass it is short, but clunky.

I agree with previous post and some other functional things to consider: what is going to be your primary marketing vehicle? If it is the web and the search engines the domain name you chose is very important in the search engine ranking of your site. Try to find domains that are keyword friendly.

Also since the primary pos is the web… stick with a .com domain. It just eliminates human error. People are so used to typing .com that it comes natural and so many of our clients end up not found when they divert from .com. You will do all this work to create a buzz on the name that people will remember and then they go to type it in on the web and will naturally type .com.

    Thanks for the great insight!

Here are a couple of other ideas we have had:

1)"Louie's On Lunch" (Louie is a completely fictional character that we made up. Louie is a long lost relative of the owner's and we discover his book of secrete recipes. We thought of some really unique marketing schemes focused around this humorous character) The premise being "who's going to take care of lunch for us today" -Louie's on it!

    2) "LunchMiester"

    3) "The Portly Pickle" (One of our core ideals in our mission statement is that each meal will be plentiful. We were trying to connote the idea of hearty and lunch time.)
