Optometry Practice Name And Tag Line

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am buying an established eye care practice in North Carolina and need to change the name and tag line. I have been in practice 20 years and our team is very focused on our patient and their experience.
I think I would like to incorporate "Carolina" or "Carolinas" in the name because I will eventually expand to more locations, possibly into South Carolina.
I like the tag line 'Your Sight Is Our Vision" or, "Your Sight Is Our Focus".
I have pondered using the words "iCare" or "iDocs" but I want to make sure people know that we do everything related to eye care - and that we "Care" about them.

With a good logo/graphic treatment, I kind of like "iCare." It includes the word "care" and your tagline works with it. You can include "Carolina" by simply making it "Carolina iCare," though that compromises some of the magic of "iCare" for me.

Another approach would be to put "Carolina" in the tagline -- for example, "Carolina's finest vision clinics." (I'm not as eager to be "clever" with the tagline as you might be -- using "vision" and "sight" or "focus" in the same sentence as a sort of pun.)

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for your response. I like the "iCare" piece as well but I am nervous that people will not be sure about what it means. It could be some kind of health care organization that does managed care or health insurance versus and eye care practice. That is why I think it needs to be tied to something relating to Eye Care or Doctors or something else.

I know what you mean about the clever tag line. It may be a little too cute.

Looking back over your answer, maybe the graphic/logo works out the "iCare" issue. The only time it would be a problem is people driving by wondering what we do or seeing our marketing.

How do you feel about the "i" having and eye drawing for the dot on the eye? Is it too cute again?

Otherwise, if we are listed in the managed care panels, they will know we are an eye care office. Same for yellow pages, internet searches, etc.

I think that the name may be too cute, since there are too many different "guesses" on what your name may mean. Why risk the possibility that your name doesn't "click" with your prospective customers? iCare may be a great name for your e-newletter, but make the name more obvious, such as:

    (20/20) Carolinas Eye Care
    (20/20) Carolinas Optometry

While I am not a design professional, I can imagine a tastefully done logo where the dot over the "i" is itself a representation of an eye. If it's too buckeye it won't work, but I'll bet a good designer could pull it off so it looks classy and still gets the idea across.

(If you need a couple of recommendations for a graphic designer, let me know. I have two I use regularly, and they are both excellent.)

Thank you for your suggestion PCC. That has been my main hesitation about using the "i" in the name. Too cute could make patients feel that we are not professional enough and that is not the case.

I am leaning towards Carolinas Eye Care. It is strong and kind of no nonsense which is how we operate.

There is a group called Carolina Family Eyecare down the street from me. Do any of you see that being a problem? The Secretary of State for NC does not have Carolinas Eye Care being used as a corporation name to date.

I like the tag, "You'll see how we care for your eyes". It is a promise that we can deliver on and something that creates an action item for someone reading it. Should I drop the "You'll" and just make it, "Come see how we care for your eyes"?

    Hey Everyone that answered this!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! This discussion and this forum was a huge help to me in trying to figure out what seems simple but has great ramifications if not done right.

I ended up with Carolinas Vision Group. The website will be up on 8/29 if you want to check us out.

Thanks again for the great suggestions!
