Event Planning Business Name Ideas

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hellooo...Event planning has always been a passion of mine. For years, family and friends have asked me to create their visions through customized invitations, decor, favors, special treats etc. I love making their dreams a reality. It is all about the little details that leave the guests in awe, which creates a lasting impression on the party. For something that was just a hobby one point of my life, I would love to turn it into my career. The only problem I have now is thinking of a name for my business. I was thinking of Oh My Goodies by Diane but now I feel it is a little childish and limits me to goodies. I also thought about Rozas are Red Events. Rozas is my last name pronouced roses. I am afraid if I use Rozas, future clients will mispronouce it and say it the way it is looks.

Can't wait to hear all your suggestions. Thanks for your help. :)

I think you may be jumping the gun.

You say: "The only problem I have now is thinking of a name for my business." But your description is all about what YOU want to do, and that suggests that you have other problems that need to be addressed first.

Maybe the thing to do is think about your target audience. Who are they? Where do they live? How do they select an event planner? What's important to them? What do you know about what makes them tick?

Why should they select you and not one of the dozens of others who plan events in your area? What makes you different from, and better than, your competition? What is it you want your name to communicate?

Michael's asked the key questions to help your business achieve long-term success. Spend the time thinking about these issues; it'll be well-rewarded.

Why not take the simple/elegant approach: "Events By Diane"? It showcases the personal touch and allows you freedom to explore different event planning niches.

You are absolutely right. I do need to sit down and think about all the questions you asked. What I can answer right this second is I want to cater to all client's party needs, from children's themed parties to elaborate wedding and anything in between to create a successful and memorable event for them. I would want them to have confidence in me, allowing me to take their vision and turn it into a reality for them. I would cater mostly to the New York/ New Jersey areas. I would start as a home business and hopefully one day have a store front.

All the questions posed above are still operative.

One other trap I see you falling into is that you're trying to be all things to all people. That's not usually an optimal strategy for a new business. You're better off narrowing your focus and trying to do one specific thing really, really well. It might be themed weddings in Bergen County, NJ, for example.

Once you have 100% market share of that niche, you can expand to nearby geographic areas or broader audiences. (In this example, you could do traditional/non-themed weddings, etc.) Of course, if someone approaches you to do something outside your selected niche, you could always accept (if you want to), but keep your marketing focus on the core business until you've nailed it.

An important advantage of this is that it allows you to save some marketing budget because you're not trying to reach everyone in the world. Another is that it lets you be an undisputed expert in the area you've chosen, rather than one of the hundreds who think they'd like to be an event planner.

It's best to start with what you're already doing well and then expand as you get requests.

You can always add a new name for the wedding division of your business if needed. Names need to be easy to remember in your line of work.

Event Doctor (DR) would allow you to use your initials but might not have the impact you want.
