Please Help Me Come Up With A Practice Name

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I'm having a hard time coming up with a practice name for a new optical shop in Portland OR. I want to stay away from the conventional names and want it to pop out. Preferably, one word that indicates: hip, new, excellent and artsy.

one word that indicates: "hip, new, excellent and artsy"

hnea so maybe hean optical or neha optical ...

Obviously I'm attempting to point out that your question cannot be answered as is. We will need more information to provide meaningful solutions to your naming problem. What makes your practice unique, who are you marketing to, what does the competition look like??

Tell us a story, as complete as possible, about who you are as a brand and what your customers want.

Collectively we are very good at naming, but we need some information from you first.

Who is your target audience? What are you trying to communicate to them? What's important to them? How do they decide on where to buy optical products? What makes you different from, and better than, your competition?

Rather that starting with a name, you're better served starting with a positioning statement. And if that's not something you're familiar with, then you may want to consider professional marketing help. I know if I needed corrective lenses, I'd go to a professional optician rather than a bunch of marketing professionals.

Phil & Michael have asked the key questions. In the meantime, how about Ocularity or Oculus?

how about: my peeps? the eyehole? or BCDs (playing on a CBGB theme in the logo) if you really wanted to appeal to ironic hipsterdom?

hip and slick enough suggestions, I guess. But everything hip becomes square (and then hip again... like using the term square). Point being, hip and edgy for a name is tough (because it'll look dated pretty quickly). My 2 cents, choose solid descriptive or even evocative name and then focus on an edgy tagline (already suggested), or campaign -- those you can change more easily as trends change.
