Need Tagline For Homebased Interior Design Business

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I have been an interior designer in business for many years and specialized in window treatments mainly but did all realms of interior design. This was in the suburbs; I just moved to NYC and have landed a new client. I feel my business needs to express a more urban feel but not sure either. I am keeping my name Interior Motives Design but need a tag line (I never had one before-but just said I specialized in window treatments) I would prefer not to be in a box like that. My former clients have told me I am very creative, fun and easy to work with etc so I would like to convey that without going into a litany of services I do perform. This is initially regarding business cards that I need to print with new info. etc.Any suggestions??

I never thought of doing that..hm?? I was thinking of sayaing....I love what I do...and you will too! but is it cheesey??

Designers love to say they have a signature style; but I would never box myself in with that either. (although I probably have a style too!) the other tag line I would like to convey might say something like...my signature style is you ..but that sounds cheesey too??? agree?? I think this one has potential--

    Some suggestions:

    "Creative urban window treatments"
    "Unique urban window designs"
    "Clean and modern window treatments"
"Signature window looks styled for your life"
"See the world through signature urban style"
"Beautiful windows to frame your world"

thank you so much for responding; I love the 'window related' tag lines but that was my former life in Colo. where I had a shop; I am now in a small apt. in NYC and feel like I have the opportunity to branch out more and do full service interiors. I mainly want a tagline that makes someone want to call me!! but is not specific to what I do because it would be too long! I thought on the backside of a business card, I could list specifics. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions!

To create the urban feel you're looking for how about something with the word 'concrete' in the tag line.

The reason someone will call you is because you can solve their problem, scratch their itch, provide an important benefit they want. That could well be a different problem/itch/benefit for each client; it usually is. And the more specific you can be to each client, the more likely they are to call you.

So coming up with one tagline on a business card that will appeal to everyone is probably going to yield a sub-optimal result. And your desire to make it broad/general will only ensure that it's not exactly right for anyone.

If I were in your shoes, I'd pick the niche you expect will be most interesting and profitable for you and zero in on the core benefit you deliver for clients in that niche. It doesn't mean you can't do other things. It just means that you're going to position yourself as the ideal solution for one particular kind of problem and one specific market segment.

The more narrowly you can define your target audience the more relevant you can be to them, and the more relevant they find you the more likely they are to call you. Keep your eye on the prize, and you'll see that rifle shots are better than shotgun blasts.

wow that's food for thought---I really appreciate your comments even though I am a bit confused now!! :)

Confusion is to be expected. You are a professional interior designer, not a marketer. If you started talking Feng Shui to me I'd be confused too.
