You Helped Me And I Am Back For More...

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
I posted a question last week on opening a joint bridal and maternity shop. I was advised here and I have decided to go for a bridal shop only. Now I am back to seek your professional advise on the name and tagline. I am trying to avoid bridal "shop" on the name. It will be Karyn Bridal Shop, but I want to avoid it as i see it is common. I would like something unique but without changing the meaning. And does anyone thinking of a tagline to go with that? And lastly, what colour do you think will work well on the bridal shop wall? Thanks a lot.

Why not name your store "Karyn's Bridals" (no need for the word "Shop") or "Bridals By Karyn"?

As for taglines, what region will you serve? Any specific group of women (by age, demographic, style, etc.)? In other words, why WOULD someone shop at your store instead of at one of your competitors'?

There is nothing wrong with a "common" name if it clearly communicates what you offer. Besides "Karyn" isn't that common.

The reason people will shop at your store has more to do with the benefit you promise and offer than with how common or uncommon your name is.

When you have your positioning benefit clearly defined so we know what makes you different from, and better than, your competition, then we can help you come up with a great tagline to express it.

Also, can you answer Jay's questions? Where is your store located? Who are your core customers? What's important to them?

    Karyn,

In one town by me I've seen 3 bridal "shops" open and close since last year. I say that just so you realize it's not all about the name or the tagline. (But I do like Karyn's Brydal) You have to give them a reason to stay away from the mall.

I'm sure you've been in the industry a while right? What do brides say? Why do they choose the big chain?

How about "The promise before the promise"

    Michael
