Kids Room Decor Online Store - Need A Name

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi there,

I am opening an online boutique that will carry children's bedding, wall decor, lighting, rugs, and other accessories. Any idea for a good name? I am hoping to incorporate kids and rooms in the name for SEO purposes.

Thanks!

Have you researched your target audience to see what words they use when they discuss the decor of their kids' rooms? What's important to them?

A name that works best for SEO isn't always the name that will resonate with your target audience, so don't focus solely on SEO. Besides, SEO usually takes months/years to become an effective marketing tool, and most new businesses need to generate sales long before search engine ranking becomes a factor.

You probably need to be a bit more specific about your core target audience too. Are we talking about infants, toddlers, pre-school, or school-age children? And is it mostly moms who make this kind of purchase decision, or dads, or do the kids themselves play an active role?

The more you can tell us about your target audience -- including the words they use when they discuss kids' room decor -- the better able we'll be to come up with a name for your business.

And if you haven't had some in-depth interviews with your target audience, or conducted some focus groups on the subject, that really needs to be next on your to-do list ... before you deal with the name.

Have you developed your business plan and marketing strategy yet? If so, those may give you the direction you need to focus your energies more on the positioning and overall direction. How will your target audience learn about you initially? How much will you need to invest to generate the traffic you need to make your business profitable? Etc. Etc.

All of these things come before naming ... and without them, the naming process is a useless exercise, because the name will probably change once you understand the positioning benefit and marketing strategy better.

Thanks for the feedback, great suggestions. My target audience is female between the ages of 25-45, higher income level, they have children and are browsing online from home or work. Their kids range from infants to school age children.

Some of the keywords they use when searching for the kids rooms are: crib bedding, nursery decor, baby boutique, children's bedding, baby bedding, wall decor, kids bedding and kids rooms.

Thanks for the great response. I am still hoping for some more suggestions. I am open to names that don't have "kids rooms" in the title as well. Thanks.

You might also want to incorporate the city where your store will be. I'm in Chicago, so it could be: The Chicago Kid's Room, Chicago Bedtime for Kids or Chicago Bedtime Club. Also: Children's Bedtime Boutique, The Kid's Room, Good Night for Kids, The Crib, or even Nighty Night if you don't want to go the local route. To get the domain it could be www.nightynightchicago.com, et al.
