Graduating Massage School Soon, Need Clever Name

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello, I will be graduating from massage therapy school soon and I am having the hardest time coming up with a clever name that isn't already taken. I'm leaning more towards the spa massage therapy versus the sports, but I'm keeping on open mind. Any suggestions?

"Clever" shouldn't be the goal for your business name. Most consumers are not looking for a "clever" massage therapist. They want one who can deliver a specific benefit for them.

The way to begin your naming process is to define very clearly who is in your primary target audience. Where do they live? How old are they? What's the benefit they're seeking? How do they find and decide on which massage therapist to use? What are the criteria for selection?

If you start by thinking about all of this from the perspective of your target audience, you'll see that the naming (and marketing) process will go a lot more smoothly. You need to begin with the objective and the strategy before you start deciding on implementation details (like naming).

    Here's a quick exercise -

Go to google search, click on google maps, place the keyword phrase "spa massage therapy (your city and state)".

This will quickly indicate who your competition is and what names they are using.

Question: how far will people travel (from work or home) to get a great massage?

    hope this helps,

If you call it Sarah's Massage, you have a lower chance of gaining corporate massage therapy work from the physician community.

If you call it Massage Therapy Network you can project that a client wont always get the same therapist.

This is the reason you need to identify your target audience.
