Female Painting Bussiness Name??

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am a 21 year old female painter (interior & exterior) I have 3 years under my belt and have gotten all my business through word of mouth. Business is booming and it's time I settled down with a business name. I love the slogan "Not just a pretty face.." but I am open to ANY ideas! I need a business name and slogan. Something that describes my bubbly/feminine personality but also professional enough to reflect my quality work. Thanks in advance!

While my instant thought is to market either interior or exterior services, you could market both. I would, however, omit the "not just a pretty face." It says nothing about what you do.

With that all in mind, a couple of suggestions:

In the Paint -- Interior/Exterior paint services

Color Your World Painting -- Specialist in Interior/Exterior

    Good luck!

What about “itty bitty pretty painter”, or should I scrap that?

    Scrap it. Too cutesy.

While the fact that you're female may make you look different from your male competitors, it doesn't do much for your professionalism. There's no evidence that your target audience thinks females are better painters, is there?

BTW, who is your target audience? Where to they live? What IS important to them when they pick a painter? Commercial vs. residential differences?

We can help you come up with a name and a tagline, but it doesn't sound like you really need either one if business is booming. When things are working for you, why mess with the formula?

I agree with mgoodman, there are certain questions that need to be properly answered before you jump in to the business name and tag line.

One of the main things is, why do I care as a potential customer that you are a female? Unless, I am a feminist who supports the sisterhood, what other reason is for me to pick you. Yes, you being a female painter is unusual, but what does it mean.

Are you targeting women who prefer to deal with a female painter or think that they are able to better communicate with you or trust you more as a female?

If you want commercial work a cutesy business name will not do it, you undermine your ability.

Once you asked yourself these basics questions and worked out what apart from your sex makes you stand apart, you can come up with a name.
