Comany Name Vs. Product Name

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
We are setting a new website, Facebook page, etc. Is it better to use our main product name which people might know to search for as the domain name and header and link our company website to it or use our company name, The Blum Group. and then just use the main product in keywords. We are a personal financial company. Any guidance is appreciated.

Depends on the level that the product is, and is known. For example, you wouldn't expect to see Chevrolet just as a product under the GM page, but to have its own page. But you also wouldn't expect to see Ben & Jerries having separate web sites for each flavor of ice cream (I didn't check - I am assuming they don''t).

I think most would go with company name as the URL.

Of course, for URLs, they are pretty cheap, so you could go for both. Get both the URLs for your products and also for your company.

Generally go where your customers expect to find you.

If your brand is stronger, create BRAND pages, whatever sites they are on (could always mention, link to group pages)
Also opens up the possibility to create more pages.

Don't impose your world on your customers, let your customers expand your company reach.
