Name My Organizing Business

Posted by jillb224 on 250 Points
I am starting my home, office, and pretty much any other space (ie; garages, storage sheds in a back yard,
rented storage units, pack & unpack moving...) organizing business. Name to reflect this:
What I want to do is take 1/2 of my first hour rate fee and donate (it in the clients name) to the American Cancer society or similar cancer organization towards finding a cure. The donation can be made in the clients name or in the name of a loved one or someone they've known who lost their battle, OR someone currently battling cancer.
This is important to me because I lost my husband, Joey of 18 yrs, this last August 2010, at the young age of 41 to lung cancer. I APPRECIATE ANY CATCHY and CLEVER SUGGESTIONS!
Thank You.

As much as you'd like to advertise your support of cancer organizations for personal reasons, it's not a primary reason to choose you as an organizer for your prospective customers. Instead, focus on what makes you different/better from the other organizers in the San Diego area and put that into your tagline.

The benefit you're offering would seem to be a natural co-marketing opportunity with the ACS - either by creating a organize-a-thon, or donating your services to one of the events in your area (as a raffle prize, for example): https://www.cancer.org/Involved/participate/app/event-search.aspx?all=1&...

You will do more good for your cause, as Jay says, if you promise your customers the benefit they want and need, and then donate whatever you're comfortable with to the cause that's close to your heart. There isn't much advantage to forcing your priorities on your customers.

Why not go with a name like:

    Get Organized San Diego!

    or

    Organizing San Diego ...
... one home at a time.

    Jill,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, unless people knew him they won't consider that as a reason to choose you over another space organizer.

You could honor him by using a joey (baby marsupial) in your logo. That doesn't solve the differentiation issue.

    "Space cadets"?

    Michael
