Topic: Taglines/Names

Indivijellies.com? Humanbeans.com? Other?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I have a product called diversity jellybeans on my website. I have taken over the business from my supplier who called them diversity beans. They are jellybeans where the flavor may not match the color--corporations, schools, etc. use them for diversity training/stereotyping activities. I'm improving on the product and wonder if I should also improve on the name with something more fun and catchy? If so, I could use some help! I came up with indivijellies, humanbeans, jellybeings...any other ideas? I also need a good tagline. Do I keep what I have and add a great tagline or revamp? Thanks for your help!!

If corporations and schools already know your product as "Diversity Beans" - what's the benefit to changing it? Also, if this is your website (https://www.diversitybeans.com/), what's wrong with your existing tagline "You can't judge a bean by its color"?

Hi Jay, thanks for responding. I feel that my suppliers' packaging was less than professional and I will be using more distinct flavors. That's what I'm trying to figure out...is it worth the change? As for the tagline "you can't judge a bean by its color" it makes me think that we're only talking about color when it comes to diversity. Diversity includes much more than color.

In this case.. you really would be judging the bean only by it's color. When we grab a green jellybean we expect it to be lime, but it could be apple, or watermelon, or mint.. the diversity is inside the bean.

The message is to not judge someone from their outside appearance because it is the uniqueness inside that counts.

In my opinion, I think you should leave the name and tagline as it is and just work on improving the look of the packaging as well as any other areas you think need a more professional look.

If the sample card sown on the page is similar to what you have for packaging, I agree that the packaging and card could use some design updates to make it look more professional.

But I am with Tracy that if the name has name recognition value, I wouldn't be so quick to change it.

I think the "you can't judge a bean by its color" tagline is pretty good. Plays on the old saying "you can't judge a book by its cover". I don't think it limits to just color.
