Event Planner / Sales And Marketing Consultant

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hello

I am looking into branching out on my own as an events planner and sales/marketing consultant. I have been in the event planning industry for 10 years and its about time to do it on my own. I am having a bit of trouble creating a quirky tagline. I have a great sense of humor and like those cornball taglines. I just can't seem to create my own. I haven't thought of a business name yet since I am only just going to market myself. I will keep my full-time job but do this on the side. I will be using this tagline on my business card. Thank you ever so kindly for your time!

    who are your customers ?
what field are you playing in ?
which are your main competitive advantages ?
    - why using your services and not somebody else

This would help to better position you and find a tagline.

My customers would be individuals planning events such as; birthday parties, weddings, social events. Others would be corporate; grand openings, business meetings, government meeting planners, etc.

I would say I have a competitive advantage because I have worked in planning everything from booking room blocks for weddings to actually catering the event. I have had my hands in all aspects of planning any type of event.. corporate and social.

My sales background is vast and I have always exceeded sales goals and pretty much I sell my personality. I have always been able to make a person feel like they have known me forever, therefore they feel comfortable in entrusting me with their event. I take the same aspect to sales when I would sell advertisement or any other sort of product.

    I hope that helps!

    Dixie,
Are you planning to have a side business as a meeting planner while working at a meeting planning company?

Not sure "quirky" is the answer. It's rarely the tag line that lands the account. Something that identifies your specialty is better: "Green meeting specialists" would be an example.

Correct. Thank you for your help but I do like the idea of a tagline to add to my business cards.

    OK,

so what about : Your friend in events
(since people feel they've known you forever, and this indicates knowledge and trustworthiness)

    or

    Eventingly yours

    Your events, my specialty

but these are not very specific to what your offer, which again is a very broad offer.

I'm not sure a quirky name will endear yourself to corporate clients. Why not simply name the business as:

    Dixie Smith
    The Party Planner

    or

    Parties By Dixie
