Naming A Reception At A Convention

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
We have a large convention with many receptions. One reception in particular can truly use some help. Sponsored by a branch of the U.S. federal government, it really doesn't get the crowd it should get. The reception purpose is twofold: 1) networking 2) matchmaking between international buyers and U.S. suppliers (the reception offers U.S. tabletop exhibitors) hoping to attract international buyers while they're networking --yes, we have a large exhibit floor, but the gov't has an incentive to matchmake and needs its own venue to do so).

Anyone have a branding or catchy names? It needs to create excitement or a catchy title to spark interest... I'm thinking something like, "Opening Doors -- ? or "One World, One Place" -- ? Any suggestions you have will be appreciative!

Meet and shake (having people meet and shake hands)

Maybe if you could tell us the area of activity, it would fuel our imagination beyond the most common suggestions.

I like the One World, however I would change it to "One World, One Market."

(In regard to my post below, I should have stated that the reception is at a tradeshow that includes the audience (suppliers/buyers) for: broadcast, digital media, film, entertainment, telecom, production/post-production, education, advertising, military/government, security, IT and more).

All receptions at conventions have the same goal. Some are more fun than effective. At the end of a long day on the floor, what would encourage people to choose your reception over another? Good exhibitors have already made their contacts. Are you trying to draw in those who didn't get around well enough?

You also need to be culturally sensitive if you're attracting international buyers. Best to avoid anything too cute.

"Re-connect" would give the impression that buyers could do exactly that.
