Tagline For A English Cafe Named Capabilitea

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi there,

I'm really hoping that you can help me, I am opening up a coffee shop, café type establishment, serving, tea, coffee, cakes and light lunches such as sandwiches, paninis, bagels, soups, baked potatoes and nice salads. The café is in Swiss style retail village, which is part of an historic famous gardens in the area, called Trentham gardens (in staffordshire england). The gardens were designed by a famous designer in 1833 called lancelot brown, who was nick named capability brown, so I have named my business 'capabilitea", inside I will have some information on capability brown explaining the link.

Now the gardens and shopping village attract a whole host of people, young professional on their day off, couples, elderly visitors on coaches, ladies that lunch and yummy mummies. Now these last two are my target audience. The design of the shop is shabby chic, outside there will be a white picket fence, around some tables and chairs and window boxes, making it very pretty, inside will be a couple of large welsh dressers, and a whole host of mis matched rustic farmhouse style furniture, it will have a real charming country feel to it.

So this leads me to the tag line, the name "capabilitea" isnt very descriptive as to what the business does, so I really want to tag line to explain this, I'd like to draw on capability brown and the food & drink, so far I have come up with the following:-

Capably designing your lunch.
Design for lunch.

Neither of these are grabbing me, but its the best I have so far, I'm not sure if i should be drawing in the "tea" element of the name.

I'm not sure what else i can tell you, the gardens have a mile long lake, which people walk around, a monkey forest, a large garden centre and the swiss shopping village which I will be in (made up of a individual log cabin type shops), its open 364 days of the year closing only for christmas day, its very popular and attracts 3 million visitors every year.

Really looking forward to yours responses.

How about adding "Café" to your name ("Capabilitea Café")? That'll allow your tagline to say something like: "Delicious Lunches Served Daily"

Why didn't I think of that? Jay Hamilton-Roth has come up with a great solution.

My initial reaction was that you only need to let people know that you have a cafe. The name "Capabilitea" doesn't let them know what you do/sell. Once they know what you do, then the cafe will succeed (or not) based on how attractive it is and how good the food and service are.

Jay's suggestion is perfect. By adding the word "Cafe" to the name, you let them know what you are/do. And by letting them know you care about food quality ("delicious") in the tagline, you've given them permission to believe their dining experience will be a good one.

    Hi guys,

Thanks do much for your responses so far. Your right it does make perfect sense, however the company is already set up and all the paper work has already been completed. I''m now just drawing up the designs for the signs which is why I''m looking for the tag lines.

I''ve come up with a couple more since I posted last, what do you think of these:-

"Food designed with you in mind".

"Designing your lunch is our Capabilitea".

Also the company I am buying the premises from, is currently call delicious, so i''m not sure if i should be using that word in any tag lines.

Thanks for your help so far.

I am not an attorney so this is not legal advice, but I cannot see why you cannot add the word "Cafe" after the registered name of the company.

If you were a car manufacturer, and the name was "Powerhouse Ltd.," you could call it "Powerhouse Motors" or "Powerhouse Automobile Company" without having to rename the company, right? (I recognize that there could be differences between the laws in different places, so you should check with a local expert.)

Similarly, the word "delicious" doesn't belong exclusively to the former owner.

The names you have suggested have a few problems -- at least from a marketing standpoint. First, they don't tell people that you're a cafe. "Designed" food sounds like something a caterer might say. It also sounds to me like it might be too formal or fancy -- not a place I can just pop in for [a delicious] lunch. ("Do I have to sit there and wait while they design my meal?")

Second, when you repeat the word "Capabilitea" in your tagline, you're not adding new meaning to the name. The name already includes the word. When you repeat it, it's like you're having to tell a joke the second time because you're afraid people didn't get it the first time.

When you have a "cute" name (i.e., a made-up word), it becomes less "cute" if you have to repeat it.

Your "Capabilitea" must generate good business to give you "Profitabilitea".

Name is good. To make it more striking and get the pronunciation right you could design it as "CapabiliTea !".

You can consider "CafeTeaRia" - indicating Cafe & Tea.

Tagline suggestion : "...for delicious lunch & munch !" .

    Hi there

I just wanted to say thanks for your suggestions so far, I feel that I should explain why I wanted to use the word "designed" in the tag line, this is to link to capability brown, the landscaper who designed the site that my store is in, I can see your points though that it looks a little bit poncy, and doesn''t scream out, come and have a comfortable lunch with us.

I also completely agree with you about using the word capabiltea twice, it was my partners suggestion and I was not sure on it, so it has now been confirmed that it is no good - Thanks again.

I''m really grateful for your help so far, anymore ideas are very welcome.

    Thanks again
