Candy Store & Art Gallery Name

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I need help to come up with a name for my new business that will sell sweets, and my own artwork. I will make and sell fudge for retail and wholesale purchasing, but I will also carry nuts, trail mix and a full line of fine chocolates from a well-known chocolate company nearby (sort-of a second retail location for that candy company).

I would like to include my name if it's possible ... either my first name Sue, or my last name Hart. Would the name "A Work of Hart ..." be something I could incorporate?

The business is located on a coastal river in eastern Maine.

As an artist, I've designed my own logo that includes a heart-shaped sun rising over a chocolate river. The sky around the sun is in warm tones of golden caramel and orange, and the river looks like chocolate with caramel-colored reflections of the rising sun running through it.

I'd like to paint this logo/mural on the main wall of my shop and continue with the chocolate river (receding in lighter warm tones) on two other walls. I will paint the entire ceiling to look like a sky with clouds that reflect the colors of the rising sun. The floors are already warm wood and will compliment the artwork.

Note: One major wall that runs the entire length of the shop will remain neutral/off white, and will be a gallery wall for my murals, floorcloths and other artwork. I will also incorporate my other handmade items throughout the store.

I have rustic shelving and cupboards; an antique cash register; a 10' long antique counter with 20 frontal openings for product in baskets; 2 beautiful antique wood stoves; and plenty of tables and miscellaneous displays for products.

However, I'm finding it difficult to come up with a name for this store. I appreciate any ideas that you may offer, which will help to make my dreams come true! Thanks for your help everyone. : )

Do you have a solid customer base, and have you already generated sales?

Jay ... Your "Sweet Art Shoppe" idea is really cool. I'm gonna consider my options using that name. Thanks for your help.

Gary ... This is an opportunity that was kind of thrown-in-my-lap, and after careful consideration ... I decided to run with the business.

I have 5 good accounts so far, and I have been working on a business relationship with a prominent fine chocolate company in another town. The owner really wants to be in our shop (2nd location). She has 8 employees and a very large customer base. This second location is important to her ... and to me. I've worked with her before at my friend's gift shop and it was a very profitable relationship. She will carry my products in her store as well ... even my murals! : ) Please tell me ... what inspired your question?

    Susan,

Your description of your store inspired my question. The more you can create an experience for a certain kind of buyer, the more that certain kind of buyer will seek you out.

I really like the Sweet Art Shoppe, but I would take it a step further and make it the Sweet hArt Shoppe. the h or H in a different font and shade. You could even do some cool font with all caps but still change the font color the the H.

    SWEET HART SHOPPE.

    Good luck!

Hello Doug ... and thanks for your input. I have also thought of using the hArt concept, but I''m still stuck on a name that would incorporate my chocolate river theme.

If I didn''t use my own name ... what would you (or other members) suggest?

I would be careful with chocolate river because it is so narrowly focused and you have such a diverse offering.

You could do something like...The Sweet Hart Shoppe, located on the banks for the chocolate river.

How about Art to Hart, Purveyors of fine chocolates, delectable candies and unique artwork?

After giving much consideration to the name of my store, I've decided to use "A Sweet Art Shop". I would use the word Shoppe, but a business across the street is already called The Shoppe (owner's last name) Farm & Inn.

Although I liked the hArt idea ... I like that the heart-shaped sun in my logo already symbolizes my last name Hart.

I really do appreciate all of your help. A small contest I posted on FaceBook helped me to make my final decision. Again ... thanks so much for your input.
