Two Businesses In One - Tagline Help!

Posted by Jessica.Horton23 on 50 Points
I am in the process of opening up an in-home daycare. I am already a part owner in another daycare, however my business partner is no longer interested in doing Daycare in her home. She is looking elsewhere for a 9-5 job. I am already aware of ALL rules, guidelines and requirements before doing business in my home. However, I work in the Daycare/Childcare business because it is my job and I love it. BUT, I also love baking and decorating cakes. I know all the requirements and State regulations before selling food products from home.....My problem is combining the two business. I have already figured up my hours of commitment to each job, and I already have a business name in mind. The name of my business will be Jake & Lana's. Named after my children. I'm just not sure of the Tagline, here is what I had in mind:

Jake & Lana's
A World of Creativity

Jake & Lana's
Children, Cakes and Creations

Jake & Lana's
A Child's Place

Jake & Lana's
SWEETS & SWEETIES

Also, the Idea of making two business with the same name

For Cakes: Jake & Lana's SWEETS & TREATS

For Daycare: Jake & Lana's Where Children Learn and Grow

Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated!!! THANKS!

I'd strongly suggest keeping the two businesses separate. People looking for daycare are unlikely to be impressed that you bake cakes, and those looking for cakes won't care about your daycare business.

In your mind, what's the benefit of connecting the businesses for your customers? For you?

I plan on keeping the businesses separate when it comes to bank accounts, taxes, and things like that. The only things the two have in common is the name Jake & Lana's and Moms and their children. Both businesses will have their own themes, slogans, business cards, brochures and so on. They will just be held in the same place, my home. There is a chance that customers from one business will be interested in the other one. Let's say a mom who has a child enrolled in my Daycare is in need of a birthday cake or help with their child's birthday, having a cake business then pays off. OR If a mom ordering a cake for her child or spouse finds out I also have a Daycare. What are the chances that she might one day need a Daycare to bring her child to even if it's just for one day. With Moms of children, word of mouth spreads. FAST. Like Wildfire. If I succeed in both businesses then the pay off and benefit is GREAT for both me and my customers.

It seems that we have narrowed it down to Doree Bonner and Anglo pacific, for shipping our goods to Perth from Scotland. Both similar prices and both seem professional enough.

Any thoughts/experience that people wish to share please?

    Thanks in advance

I strongly agree with your response that is the first thing that I would like to say, like you said,

There is a chance that customers from one business will be interested in the other one

to which I agree and why not go for a slogan like:

    1. Your Concern is our responsibility.

    2. Your Concern is our top priority.

    3. Enjoy the best moments of life with us
