Name For An Alumni Event For College Seniors

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I work for the alumni relations office for a small university. Each year we host a dinner event called "Senior Send-Off" at which we welcome our seniors into the alumni association. I want to change the name to better reflect that we are welcoming them into something and not sending them out of something. The event format may change from a sit down dinner with only seniors and a handful of alumni to a reception with many recent graduates.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts? If you need any clarification please post.

Here are a few naming/theme concepts for your event:

Transitions: Welcome to Your Alumni Life

Passages: Welcome to Your Alumni Life

Kudos: Welcome to Your Alumni Life

Salutations: Welcome to Your Alumni Life

Advance: Welcome to Your Alumni Life

I like your idea of a reception. Your seniors (and alums) may like the opportunity to network at a less formal event.

You may also want to use the event to recognize outstanding younger alumni as a way to build affinity between your new grads and the alumni community -- the thought being that your grads may identify more closely with younger alumni. This will have the added benefit of strengthening ties with younger alumni.

All the best success with your event and in building a robust alumni community.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Just a follow up. We took the ideas here and continued to brainstorm and came up with "Almost Alumni Reception"
