Need A Name For Wedding Design/photography Company

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am a wedding designer. I do everything from simply consultation to making hand-made decorations. My best friend is a wedding photographer. She's also a graphic designer who does wedding websites and invitations. We're currently working on putting together an all-inclusive company with packages that would put all of our talents together. We're having trouble deciding on a name. We like the idea of letting people know that there are only 2 of us doing the work. Our names are Katie and Lara, but we're not so sure we'd like our names in the company name. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming that you're focusing your efforts in your area (which is where?). Who specifically do you envision hiring your services (age, income level, etc.)? Why would they hire you (instead of other wedding planners or doing it themselves)?

Having just the 2 of you be listed in the name can be both a plus (indicates small, direct help) and a minus (indicates that you might not be big enough to do it well, or may be busy with others).

What names do you like? Why?

Our area is Southeastern Ohio. As far as who we envision as our customers - really anyone who's getting married - any age or income level. They would hire us because we have an eye for design and a creative edge unlike anyone else in our market area.

Here are 2 names we've discussed...
    *I Do with 2
*We Get It - because a lot of weddings we've attended are not put together very well - not every aspect is tied together - which is what we would do. From invites down to every last decoration - everything would flow together. This "name" always comes up when we're discussing how our company would differ from the norm because we get it and they don't.

We'd like the name to reflect any of the following - we're creative, every aspect will be unique, attention to detail, we'll handle anything and everything, or possibly the fact that we're both hopeless romantics - but don't want to sound too cliché.

I should've worded the part about 2 doing the work a little differently - we'll have plenty of help when needed for the actual weddings. But, we would be the creative minds at work behind it all.

You're looking at your name from the wrong perspective. Imagine someone who's getting married in your area is looking for people to help them plan the event. They see one of your suggested named "I Do With 2" or "We Get It". What's the first impression these names make? It doesn't say anything about what you do or for who. The names are focused around you, and not a key benefit you provide for them.

You can make your name "safe" (Ohio River Valley Weddings), personal (Weddings by Katie & Lara), unique (Creative Ohio Weddings), etc. But whatever direction you choose, it'll save you a lot of money/time to pick a name that's aligned with your target market.
