Psychology Practice Name? Updated Questions

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi! I posted on 6/9 under "Ideas For Name Of Child Psychology Practice?" and got some great feedback- thanks! I am planning on starting a psychology practice soon, as I am leaving my current practice.

DETAILS:
Clientele will include children/adolescents between 18 mos and 18 yrs, with behavior problems, ADHD, Autism, anxiety, etc. Services include behavior therapy, parent training in behavior management, psychological testing for the above diagnoses and learning disabilities, collaboration with client schools, and individual, family, and group therapy. I live in Jacksonville Florida (nicknamed the River City as well as the First Coast) and my last name sounds something like DeSanchez.

Previous respondents suggested I use my last name or name of the geographic area in my company name. What do you think of these ideas below (or some combination of some of the recurrent terms)?

DeSanchez Psychological Services
Pediatric Psychological Center of Northeast Florida
DeSanchez Developmental Psychology Center
River City Behavioral Health
River City Child Psychology Services
First Coast Psychology Center
???

Thoughts?! I'd like to capture the child aspect as well as the variety of psychological services I provide.
Any other ideas are greatly appreciated as well!
Thank you!

If your clientele will be mostly children (and their families), then it makes good sense to include "child" or "pediatric" in your name. Rather than "River City" in your name, I'd suggest Jacksonville - since people are more likely to search for "child therapist in Jacksonville" than "child therapist in River City" (or "First Coast"). Finally, if you're name is indeed "DeSanchez" then you could use it, but I'd suggest doing it in a couple of cases: if your name is well-known or if you're using your name itself as the name of the business. Otherwise, keep the name focused on people who are looking for you.

Thank you Jay! I am just worried that using Jacksonville in the name may be too generic and blend in with the other practices around here?

Also, previously a respondent suggested that I steer away from using 'psychology'/'psychological' in my name, because people may have a negative connotation with it. They suggested using 'behavior'/'behavioral' in the name instead. What are your thoughts? I feel that 'behavioral' doesn't fully capture all of the services I provide, but I don't want to be off-putting to potential clients by using 'psychology'...

    Thank you!!

I kind of like "River City Behavioral Health" myself. And in the tagline you can use something like "Professional Counseling for Children and Families."

    River City Behavioral Health
Professional Counseling for Children and Families

I was one who thought the word "psychology" could be a negative for some people, and who urged a focus on the positive outcome rather than the negative/problem. I guess that means I'm at least consistent.

I think it makes more sense to use the location reference than to use your name, unless you're so well known that the name itself could be a draw.
