Clever Business Name

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am in a rut with trying to come up with a clever business name for my jewelry business. I make mostly one of a kind pieces and they have a vintage flare but I don't want to box myself in so I can stay on trend. I am looking for longevity.

All suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you,
Lori

    Keep it simple.

Tell people who you are and what you do:

    Lori Lentz Custom Jeweler

    Custom Jewelry by Lori Lentz

It's the quality of your work and how you make people
feel that matters, NOT the cleverness of your name.

    or more conservative options...

    Splash of Jewelry

I also agree that cute and catchy might not be the way to go. Business names should have a sense of professionalism so that it appeals to serious buyers. The cute and clever part certainly can be part of your campaign, but I would keep the name itself simple.

One way to do it might be to check the available domains and go with one that describes your business. Oftentimes the domain name is the most important part of your business, and your company can be sculpted off of your domain name.

Who is your primary target audience? Where? What is important to them? What brands do they prefer in other categories? What words do they use to describe what they look for when they buy jewelry?

As others have suggested, don't go for "clever." Go for a name that communicates a benefit -- an emotional payoff, if possible.
