I Need Help Making A Name For A Youtube Show...

Posted by BowmanProductions.MollyAnn on 25 Points
Right now we are not a real business. We want to become one later on that will provide media services such as filming events and making DVD copies for our clients. WELL before that we are doing a few YouTube shows. The first one, other than our school projects, is a cooking show. My first episode I will make some sushi. Basically once a week I will cook something i feel like from all around the world and upload it to our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/bowmanproductions?feature=results_main If it looks good and we get allot of views we will partner up with google so we can make some money so that soon we can start the real business.

For now I need a name for my YouTube show. The Introduction will be very exciting with animations and good exciting music like on the cooking shows on Great American Country (tv station) or FoodNetwork. :)

It is just me that is cooking and the episodes will not be to long 5-8 minutes is what i'm hoping for.

Most of the time I will be using an HQ camcorder and tripod but sometimes when I don't have my equipment on me for whatever reason I'll use my webcam.

I am trying to just gain a good audience that will always want to visit the Channel. So I need a good fun name!

I am using equipment anyone can get easily and making meals that anyone can afford even with food stamps. My name is MollyAnn and the webshow will be one of many under BowmanProductions.

(Aside: creating a compelling TV show will require much more than a single HQ camcorder & tripod - it will likely require 2+ cameras, great mics, and most importantly - a compelling story. For a cooking show, you'll need interesting angles, great close ups, interesting camera movements, etc.)

For a cooking show, who specifically are you planning to gain as viewers: professional chefs, amateur chefs, people looking to cook on the cheap, singles, young professionals, etc.? Located where? And most importantly, why should they care about your show? There are tons of TV shows on cooking already on YouTube (and elsewhere)- what will make yours a must-watch?

I agree with every point Jay's raised. I also think you ned to do a lot more planning before you get to grips with a name.

First, the hodge podge of videos currently listed under Bowman Productions has got to go. The main video that shows up at the moment is about Osama Bin Laden—there's NOT connection here with cookery.

You need a totally new channel.

You also need compelling content that's well produced and scripted. As for using a webcam to film with, no. It'll look crap and sound worse.

You'd do well to model yourself after a cookery personality, not copying them, but taking inspiration from them. This raises the big question that you might not be willing to ask, but here it is:

Can you cook? Can you cook professionally, on camera, and in real time?

What qualifies you to have your own show? If you've got professional level kitchen skills and the chops to pull this off, go for it. However, simply being able to boil an egg does not make you a cook.

To create a following you'll need to be worth watching and you'll only be worth watching if you can cook.

As for teaming up with Google and making money? You're a long way away from there. It's a worthy goal and one that can be realized, but there's more to it than that.

For a name, make it relevant to the thing being looked for and use descriptions in the main title and the main dialogue box. "Bowman Productions" tells me nothing about what you do. "Cooking With MollyAnn" does
