Need A Name For A Networking Event In Marketing

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
We are looking to name our event that is hosted twice a year, we are a group of women in marketing who are all VP or higher. We dont want a name that is strictly for women. It also does not necessarily need to be a real word.

Thanks!

We'll need a lot more information to go on that what you provided for meaningful suggestions. For example:

    Where are you located?
Who is likely to attend? Why?
Who's the host of the event? Why?

We are in Atlanta, most of those who attend are VP Marketing Professionals, All women. It is a networking event hosted by a very well connected marketing professional and the goal is to get these women in the same room to discuss marketing trend and topics as it sees fit

If the attendees of this event are all female then does it not make sense to pitch it as such—even though a few men might sign up?

Frankly, in terms of the name, what you want is irrelevant: your message needs to be clear and it needs to cut through all the other crap out there by focusing its meaning on the needs of the most appropriate audience: female VPs in marketing.

Think about this: you're in MARKETING. By going with a nonsense word you'll automatically alienate 90 percent of your audience. I'll say this again: you're in marketing.

As for getting people in the same room at the same time to talk about issues that affect them all, you need to frame your title so that it marries up with the world views and with the personal biases of those people most likely to attend. To do this, any talk of not needing to be a real word has got to stop: you're either a marketing group or you're not.

Go for clarity or go home.
