Help! Taglines/phrases/business Names

Posted by rsgrace on 250 Points
My profession is that of a Hypnotherapist. My target is health and wellness (motivation, self improvement, sports/exercise enhancement, mind/body connection, weight loss). I'm trying to convey an understanding of mind/body connection in my verbage in creating a tagline (catch phrase) for my logo which is being developed. It will also be used on business cards and all marketing materials.

I want to keep it simple but to the point. I would love ideas or thoughts on the matter for both a name and tagline.

This sounds like it's a pretty important bit of copywriting. I'd recommend having this done by a professional who will spend the necessary time to understand your target audience and the full importance of what you want to communicate to that audience. This isn't something you want to do with a few suggestions from folks who don't know the complete business picture and your competitive environment.

You can post a project in the Hire an Expert section of this website (see the column at the right), or you can review the profiles of top experts on the site to see if one or more of them might be right for the project, and then contact them directly.

Meanwhile, you might start developing a Creative Brief that has all the relevant information. Start with a clear and specific description of your primary target audience. Where do they live? Demographics? Psychographics? What benefits are they seeking? How do they decide on which hypnotherapist to use, or whether they even need one?

We'll also need to know the name of your practice/business, and what makes you different from, and better than, others offering similar services in your area. What are the names/taglines of others in the area? (You don't want to copy a competitor's tagline!) What unique and important benefit do you deliver?

You indicate that you're open to name suggestions, but it's not clear if you are already practicing or not, and if so under what name? How can you develop a logo without a name?

That's the thing, I do not currently have a name. My practice is new, the logo is being created to reflect a mind/body connection using the Koru which is a fern which symbolized change. It also will possibly as part of the design be a woman's eye and the Koru as it's center. Still in process.

Maybe I was unclear of the help I was asking and if so my apologies. I want to convey change and the understanding that the mind and body are connected. It's what I teach through hypnosis. I anchor that.

I was only thinking about a tagline when I realized I had no name. How silly of me! It didn't come up until recently as I will teaching an imagery class and doing private sessions from a wellness center and perhaps another place as well. I do have nor will I at this time a single office to operate from.

I also have zero competition for what I do. I live and work on a chain of islands so it is rural and competition as I said is not an issue.

My target audience are those wanting to enhance their exercise, get motivated, energized, learn more about themselves, positive thinking, stress management and relaxation. These are people who want to better themselves all around. I am not working with people in a therapeutic way nor do I intend to. That will be left for the Phd folks.

I don't want to come across cute or like a flower child either. There are many including myself who believe in a holistic way of life to a degree but I don't wish to limit myself to only those who subscribe to that way but those who want to better themselves in general.

Oh and I almost forgot, I will be addinng Holistic Life Coach in the not so far future.

I hope I answered your questions and provided more information.

    Thank you!

While the mind-body connection is how you perceive the key benefit you offer, your clients probably don't see it the same way. From their perspective, you're helping to eliminate the bad stuff in their life (or get more good stuff). How you do it is irrelevant (hypnotherapy). What they're likely looking for is: trust (what % of your clients succeed) and safety (how will they know that more bad stuff won't suddenly appear).
