Annual Fundraiser Name

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I need a concise and relevant name for what we hope will become the annual fundraising event for our organization.

This ngo, 501c3 public health organization does child-based initiatives in public schools and the community around health education, nutrition and physical activity. We also plant and harvest school gardens and are planning our first community garden for spring 2013.

Event is to be hosted in the garden of the governors mansion in June. It will be a food-centric event, focusing on our belief and programming around nutrition as the most important step towards good health.

Dueling chefs (think the Food Networks "Chopped") will provide entertainment. All auction items will center around local culinary opportunities.

Among the many programs we are conducting in the schools is one called "Destination Dinner Table," which brings families into the school kitchen in the evening to work alongside our Chef to prepare a from-scratch meal for the family in <30 minutes on a budget...

Any help is appreciated. We are really struggling and, as I mentioned, we hope this will become an annual event for our organization, so we want to brand it well.

Who is your audience and what do they like. Because any advertisements targeted at them, and not some general amorphous spectre that comprises an entire market will yield big benefits. Any help in sharing this will make our answers better and more useful to you.

One thought for you - we never had any problems getting our children to eat their greens. Growing our own meant that our vegetables tasted good. Because of that, they needed no encouragement.

    So

    "Growing them from the seed"
    "Food as it should be"
    "Eat what you grow"

What's the name of your NGO?
How tightly are you trying to make the name fit: the location, the theme, and/or time of year?

genHkids Coalition is the name of my NGO (generation Healthy kids). My tagline, "The genHkids Coalition, working together to create generation Healthy!"

I'm not terribly concerned with fitting it to the location or time of year. The theme, however, is somewhat important. I'll say that I'm on the cusp of launching what I hope will grow into an Urban Ag program in our economically depressed areas of town -- it will start with a community garden with plans to expand from there into additional gardens, skills and jobs training, health education, etc..

The foods we consume are the "root" of our program (and the root of the childhood obesity epidemic). Your comments have me kicking around "Roots of Health" and "Seeds of Possibility."

We were trying to find something in keeping with the dueling chef theme from "CHOPPED" (which is, I'm sure, trademarked), the show on the food network that everyone loves and knows. "Sliced" "Diced" etc. just don't get us there. We are also trying to come up with clever titles for sponsorship levels beyond "bronze/silver/gold/platinum" and were thinking we could use the various levels of chef (there are many!).

Appreciate your time -- this is helping with a much needed paradigm shift....

.... our audience, to answer the other question posed, is "community leaders" in health and business, primarily. Its not going to be an inexpensive ticket, so we are setting aside tables for educators who have worked hard to assist in our programs as they likely will be unwilling to shell out the price of admission. Obviously the bulk of our $$ netted we anticipate will come in the form of sponsorships, so the sales pitch focuses heavily on connecting the dots between healthy children today and a healthy labor force in the future, as well as with diminished overhead costs (health care, days lost, productivity, etc.).

How about "Seeds of better food" or "Seeds of better health"

For ideas and a current group who are successful in the UK is the Ruskin Mill, who do a lot of things that are right in your direction - https://rmt.org/ what is more they are keen to help others in the same line.
