The Right Name For A Fitness Bootcamp Business

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I was wondering if my bootcamp and tagline name fits the description well for the business

Bootcamp name: Body Fit Bootcamp
Tag line: Transforming the new you!

Description:

The fitness boot camp class is a non-military style but a fun action packed class with a variety of classes and exercises, which includes resistance and functional training, boxing and yoga. We aim at women and men, but they’re separate classes so the focus on each gender is targeted better. We like to focus on a team environment were everyone helps each other out to reach their own goals with encouragement and commitment.

Size of class: 10-15
Target market: men and women who want to loose weight, tone and get fit and
seek a lifestyle change.
Age: 18-45
Equipment used: weights, resistance bands, mats, boxing gear, ropes etc.
Format: outdoors

    Matt,
what is the one thing that makes people want to come to your bootcamp on a cold, wet February morning? They could be tucked up in bed with their partner and the coffee machine instead.

This is important for whilst your services are genuine, many people regard themselves as "fit" when they are anything but.

The motivation to reach their goals, the knowing fact that they might miss another fun and exciting session and the accountability that they have already paid. These are some general ideas.

During the winter time, i already have strategies to overcome this problem. I'll make sure their is shelter at the location.

    and

One main strategy would be to implement a competition on who can lose the most weight over the winter period and the winner get a major prize, such as a holiday for example. It will cost $50 to enter the comp, everything is provided for them (food dairy, nutrition etc.) the money i get from the clients will go towards the main prize and some out of my pocket to. weight in's only count on the sessions (so they have to come no matter what) The idea behind this is to get the clients to go through the winter period with a goal and have the accountability to loose as much weight as possible and hopefully win the major prize. That's how i hope to help the girls to go through the winter period and have the motivation to come to the sessions.

All in all, would you be able to tell me how the name looks to my description of the business? i'm ready to finalize things unless i drastically need to change something.

Please let me know, feel free to critique and share ideas. Thanks

"Transforming the new you!" technically isn't quite correct - you're transforming the "old" you or transforming "to a" new you. But what's missing is an emotional connection - WHY does someone want to be transformed? For example, Get The Body Of Your Dreams.

Quote **The motivation to reach their goals, the knowing fact that they might miss another fun and exciting session and the accountability that they have already paid. **

Health and fitness clubs rely on the "already paid" to make most of their profits yet not have to supply a service.

    You have been warned.

Quote **One main strategy would be to implement a competition on who can lose the most weight over the winter period and the winner get a major prize**

What strategies have you for people whose ability to lose weight is not equal to their determination to lose weight? There are some whose attempts are valiant yet they still come last.

    Is that fair?

How do you measure something as indefinite as "determination"?? To be quite honest with you, if you can deal with this one problem you may find you have hit on a gold mine. If you can encourage people who have never managed to lose weight, yet manage to attain a level of fitness that means they feel better about themselves? That you can't measure this feeling either makes it no less powerful for those who feel it.

Somehow you need some team action here. Perhaps a vote on
    1) who looks the best after the winter
    2) who has tried hardest
    and
    3) who was most determined in the minds of the other team members.
    4) a score for themselves as to how they feel they did.

You can then take the scores and add them up. Usually someone who hasn't done as well as the best in actually losing weight will come out top. It also gives those who are genuinely determined yet their bodies don't yield.

What do you think? You're the expert here!

We have a Body Fit gym who gives Bootcamp classes in our town too – their programs are very popular.

Transforming the new you! – does not do it for me either.

You say it is non militaristic, but anyone signing up for a bootcamp wants that military style discipline because they know that’s what it’s going to take to kick their butt into shape.

    Body Fit Bootcamp
Hup two three four – lose that weight and stay in shape!
Declare war on fat - lose weight, get fit, have fun!
Get fit, get healthy, get sexy
We kick butt! (add ^ your - inbetween kick and butt in a handwrighting font)
Get serious about fitness and fat loss!

Moriarity, you do bring up some good points here.

I'm hoping that the little and most important things within the boot camp will help improve their determination to better them selves as a person and to also reach their goals. These little things within the boot camp class will include client CARE (making the clients a priority towards their goals), fun and variety of classes (so they don't get bored), the social aspect (meeting new people) and most importantly feeling good after the session and that feeling to continue on through out the long term. These are just small things that i described that will be involved within the boot camp and i do hope it will trigger a different side of the clients to be more determined then ever to succeed in their endeavors.

Your points on the main strategy are very good and a good way to approach it rather than "who lost the most weight wins" this seems its lot more fare rather being a competition.

    Jay Hamilton-Roth and art,

With the tagline, having a emotional connection is the main idea behind it? what else is important?
all your ideas are excellent and i will have a big think about the right one and tell you guys to see what you think.

    Thank you.

These are good M, but can you tell me what's the idea behind the tagline and what i need to do to make a good tagline?

Please, this question is important.. does my Name/brand suit the description as a marketing perspective with all honesty? because I'm ready to take the next steps into the business and i need to finalize things asap.

    Thanks.

**does my Name/brand suit the description as a marketing perspective with all honesty?**

Take it from the other way around. Is what you are offering an honest description of what you are offering? That is WAY more important than any marketing perspectives. Because it drives your marketing perspectives.

Marketing isn't about making fun titles, isn't about being trained in marketing as such - it's about you and what you do and who you offer it to. Sorting those out is the real skill in marketing, and there are no rules.

The idea behind my tagline was that you expect people to work hard. They should expect to work hard. I haven't given results as a bonus because you really can't expect that. In reality, just doing it, having fun with a dozen others and someone who really can stretch you to your limits is the real result. The body fitness you can't guarantee. The others you can. If the fitness happens, great, if it doesn't it isn't your fault, and it isn't theirs. At least they enjoyed having a go, and won't be put off trying just because they never seem to get fit (or worse - can't ever hope to match your athletic build!! - that is always a huge problem for the PT instructor and the ordinary guy).

You are running a boot camp. That is going to be tough. Fair enough. Just make sure that everybody gets the max.

How about "Making the max of your efforts"?

One final point: don't state honesty. do it. Say something about yourself - or put up a negative review (with your response too). No charlatan ever does that, and your prospective clients will wonder that you did such a daft thing. The point is that it takes integrity and honesty to fess up to your weak points. That is something that only honest men do.

I hope this helps. I'm off to bed. It's half past midnight this side of the Atlantic. M xxx

First of all M, i appreciate your time and giving me the right advice.

The description that I've provided is correct and i'm willing to go the extra mile to make its all happen because they are my clients and they pay me for a reason.. my service. And it will be so wrong if i didn't provide them with that service.

I like your idea about your tag line, about working hard and hopefully getting the right result. I hoping to get the best results i can for each and every client, even if its the smallest result of just feeling fit, because think about it, most likely each and every individual that participates within the program will get a result from just feeling good after the session or loosing 20kgs. But like i said, i'm going to do whatever i can to help them!

    taglines:

    Hard work, gets results!
    Get fit or die trying
work hard and you'll see the difference
Get fit, get healthy, get sexy
Do your best and we'll take care of the rest!
Making the best of your efforts < your one but changed max to best
Be determined and prepare for results

    What do you think?

On your final point was that directed at me? or just something in general? i see my self as a humble person and very honest when it comes to flaws and faults. I sound bias but i feel this is me and i do believe not many men are honest these days, especially about them selves and I'm glad that you brought this up. I'm going to based this business around humility, honesty and integrity because that's me, and i know that will thrive through the business and hopefully it can take care of it self.

    Cheers M

As to the taglines, please don't mention die!!! ;-)

The last paragraph wasn't that well written (it was late). The point was to say something that you can't or don't do - that not everybody will like. That way your humility will come across - as a PT instructor you certainly won't look humble!! Lifting heavy weights is not something humble people think of doing, even if it is part of their job (only they do it with cranes ... ).

The point is that your website visitors haven't ever met you. They expect a PT instructor (or whatever you are, sorry!) to be big, burly muscular and fit. They aren't expecting someone who is in reality humble and gentle. Their image of you is someone who cracks walnuts between their fingers for a pasttime, bends hammers and lifts cranes (!). That is no easy thing to shake off! That is where your telling them something bad about yourself will show them that you aren't all you appear.

    I like:

Do your best and we'll take care of the rest!
Making the best of your efforts
Be determined and prepare for results

Do make sure that the results are what your customers want. That way you will have more success in their minds. Being fit isn't about being able to lift cannonballs, sometimes it's being able to enjoy walking around the supermarket and other ordinary, day to day things. Without losing breath.

Hope this clarifies a few things. M xxx

I have to admit that sometimes i catch my self being humble at times and not being a so called hard ass PT and that is what they are paying for anyways. Its good that your brought that point up.

I'll keep in mind with those tag lines and finalize them by the end of this week. So when i'm thinking about creating a tagline i have attach an emotional side to it (getting results for example) and has to be short and sweet?

Thank you for helping me out, i just have that one final tagline question and i'm going to close this off because it can go on forever. I'll be awarding my points to you.

    Thanks again M

Hey! You could use the "I'm not the hard ass PT muscle man you think I am" line somewhere in your website.

Your tagline is for your customers, not you. Remember that when you sort one out - and it isn't something that is fixed. You can change it around.

Wishing you fitness and health! M
