Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I need help coming up with a unique name and tag line for my new business. I am opening up a maternity concierge/ baby and event planning business
I am going to be offering help to parents to be during pregnancy and help as a post partum doula after labor I am also offering event planning for baby shower, baptism, bris, 1st birthday etc
Names I liked but were taken were:
The silver spoon
Baby love

Names I like but not 100% sure I love them are:
Expect to be spoiled
Pitter patter

I'm mainly going to be online, word of mouth and mailing a brochure so the name has to be catchy and sound classy

From your earlier post, the domain name of TheBabyConcierge.com is already taken, however it is listed as "for sale". You can always negotiate on price.

Plus, just because the domain name is taken, it doesn't necessarily mean it is trademarked or well branded (it's not branded at all as a dot com). Also, you could still use this name by adding your city/state at the end such as, "TheBabyConciergeNY.com".

Lastly, ababyconcierge is available, along with several other modest modifications to this name.

You have many options if you like this direction.

    I do like this direction.
The tagline in the earlier post I also like
Im looking for a name that attracts champagne taste
My prices however are going to be very reasonable

There is already someone called premier baby concierge
    Too similar

You're right, there are too many "baby concierge" names already out there.

Re: ".. attracts champagne taste". Many new businesses would like to attract the most upscale customers. It is something that has to be earned over time. And then only when the customers think you've arrived at this level will you truly be branded at this level.

What is your strategy to achieve credibility as a "champagne" brand. Do you have a written marketing plan that spells this out?

I'm am in the works of a marketing plan
    Im in the beginning stages
I've been told the name and tagline can make or break me it has to be catchy and unforgettable

I think "make me or break me" may overstate the importance of the name. And "catchy" typically doesn't do as well as "clearly communicates a benefit."

The heart of good marketing is good product (or service). If you deliver a great unforgettable experience, the word will spread and you'll have what you want. And marketing will be much easier.

As for "champagne" or "beer" pricing, it's not usually a good idea to deliver champagne service at beer prices. That's because your price is the ultimate expression of what you think your product is worth. And if you think it's worth "beer pricing" then it's unlikely anyone else will really believe they're getting champagne. After all, your price is telling them "it's beer."

Now all that said, the name and tagline can, and should, be taken seriously. They should express a clear benefit for your target audience and be as specific as possible. If you try to be too many things, you'll lose focus and be less meaningful to everyone in your target audience. And end-benefits, or even end-end-benefits, can really make a difference in a business like yours -- loaded with emotional overtones.

You may want to hire a naming expert for this. The fee you'd have to pay will be small compared to the value of having a great name. And the great name can last (and make money for you) for many, many years.

Sorry I'm late for the party, it was dark this side of the Atlantic.

    How about

"The Comfy Bump" - Looking after mother and baby
    - the before and after help service
    - everything for babies and their mums
    - helping the Storks do their work

    What do you think?
